Yeah that is why I figure if he could get a good pic or video under normal light someone would know immediately
Ok so he definitely looks a lot more sinister close up... Though he IS tiny. I wonder if anyone could get a confident ID on him with these photos? Looks like he does have hairy legs after all!

Not sure what kind it is but I have three tanks that all have emeralds. I feed heavy and have lots of corals. The crabs have been great , no issues at all.

Definitely not an emerald crab(they are all green, and not mottled like that one). Not sure what type it is, but the pincers look to be blunt and not pointy. Should just be an algae grazer of some sort. Possibly in the mithrax family, but certainly not an emerald or ruby.

@KJ he can probably correctly identify it for you.

Really? Thanks for the info! Would a non-emerald mithrax likely be more of less trustworthy than an emerald? I'm trying to work out if I should put him in my AIO sump or back into the display. I'd just sump him in another tank, but I'm worried there's a high chance he'll get eaten up by my skimmer in my max nano (no clue really).

I honestly cannot say.

I highly doubt the intake to your skimmer is strong enough to pull the crab in.
Makes sense, thanks for your help! I ended up putting him in the sump, hopefully someone is able to give me a confident ID and info. I snapped another picture of the little guy as I lifted him up into the sump
