use the blue mode to make waves.... set it on blue and turn it all the way up with the knob then hit set... then you can turn the same knob to change how long the pulses are... eventually you time it up to get a nice wave. Dunno how much an mp10 will produce tho.

Check out the Ecotech forum on RC. There are a bunch of threads showing how people run them in their nanos. I've noted that people are using a wide array of setting based on their aquascape and livestock... I can't wait to get mine and give it a whirl!

Congrats on purchasing and receiving a great product!

I have a Solana and have had the MP-10 for about 3 weeks now. I found that I like the Reef-Crest Random Mode the best. Primarily because the pump is so loud. It does a great job of moving the water around, just a little loud.

The "new" wet-sides have been running smoothly for 99% of people out there. You'll always see issues with a product because they sell a ton of them, and some people "cry-wolf" so to speak way to soon. If your intersted in them, go for it! These pumps are amazing and all pumps will move towards this route over time. Personally, I'll have an extra wet-side on hand, but for cleaning purposes. Pull off the "Dirty" one, toss it in some vinegar and get to cleaning, but before that place the other wet-side on that's already clean. If worse comes to worse and you have to send in a wet-side for repair; BAM! You already have an extra one ;)

I have both, an mp40 and a 10. The mp40 has broke twice since it was purchased in april and they are both very loud. The only reason I reason use night mode is so I can sleep at night. The customer service is ok at best, if you get somebody on the phone the problem can usually be taken care of but dont ever expect them to return a phone call.

I have sold alot recently from a big order we made, and we also run them on many customers tanks that we maintain, not to mentions our stores display tank. but anyways I have found them to be quite nice. In the store we have had one screw up after almost a year. If you read the manual I'm pretty sure it says to clean the wetside monthly... I think this is where alot of problems are coming from. When ours did mess up they sent me a new wetside and it arrived in less than 48 hrs. Thats good customer service IMO.

I hear a lot of people say they are loud but mine MP20 I can't hear at all.....So this make me wonder if they are not truly aligned right. I know if it isn't aligned right it will make an awful noise.....Could the reason they are having issues.

Thanks a lot guys for the input, my tank is not in my room so i am not worried on wether its noisy but as i did see on the video a good aligning of it should take care of that. I normally never clean my pumps that often but i guess i will with this one, especially since it seems easier that all the others.

If you want a clean look, get a dry doc and place the dry side in the 2nd or 3rd chamber. Otherwise, you will have to put it on the side of your tank.

so the pump has been on for the past few days and i found lagoon mode at full power to be the best mode for my tank, now what modes are people using for night mode?

I have 2 MP20's in my 40 Breeder. I have been switching what setting they are running on every couple days. As for what to run at night, I run it on their night mode. Which runs a constant 50% of whatever power you were running previously. I love my vortechs.

I have 2 MP40w's on my 120g SPS reef, and love them... I have had a couple minor problems with the bearings on the wetside, but I just drop them an email, and they hook me up with new ones within a couple days...

I would buy them again....

I have a 24g aquapod that I want to try a MP10 on, or even just get a MP20, since the wetside is the same on the MP40 as the MP20... Either way, I love mine....

Also, I have yet to try the night mode...

I run the Reefcrest mode, anti-sync, and both pumps at around 90%...

I have an mp40w in a 75 and I run it 100% on reef crest mode. I am one of the guys who initially had a few issues with my wetside. I have since figured out that most of my problem stemmed from dosing two part into my display tank near the powerhead. It caused calcium scale to form quickly on the impeller. I have since given it a good soak in vinegar once a month and I now dose my two part in my sump. Since changing where I dose two part I have had no issues with the pump. despite the problems I had I still consider these to be the best pumps on the market and will still not buy another type of powerhead for another tank as long as these are available!

AFAIK, night mode is its own mode. I don't own the MP10, but the other Vortechs don't let you choose a separate flow pattern for the evening.

Correct. Night mode runs for 10 hours from when you start it, and it will start at that same time thereafter. It runs the pump on continuous flow at 50 % of whatever you have your max flow set at. So if your max is set at 100% night mode would run at 50%, if it is set on 80% it will run at 40% at night. Hope this helps.
