I also had a frag with 2 glove polyps but they closed after 2-3 days and shriveled up. =(

We also added a Conch to help work on the sand bed. The kids named "him" Gary after the snail in spongebob. This little guys is doing an amazing job on the sand bed.

A few weeks later I moved the rocks around a little and we added 2 trochus snails to help clean the rock work that the turbo does such a sloppy job on. And because I have a problem I added 2 more corals.=P
When dipping the coral I also try to move them to either clean rubble pieces of Real Reef rubble I made from a small piece I did not use. I like the look more than plugs.

I replaced a few of our hermits that did not make it through molting. Checked the iodine levels to make sure everything was good and that was not the cause of their not making it through shell change/molting.

I ordered up a pice of ORA neon Green birdsnest from Legendary Corals who have local pickup less then a mile from my house. The packaging was fantastic. The way they package the coral I could not imagine them ever getting damaged in transit. The level of care they clearly give to orders, health of the corals and outstanding/friendly customer service means they will be seeing more of my business in the future. I trimmed of some of the plug but did not want to damage it just to get it off the plug. I may clean it up with some coraline colored putty.

And last weekend I picked up a red scooter dragonet that the wife and kids named "Hank the wonder fish". I cannot explain why, but it makes them happy so it will do. He spends most of his time hiding in plain sight. Even in full lighting his coloration blends in well with the rockscape.

I have a Chill Solutions CSXC-1 V5 I added to manage equipment/environmental heating but it was not working properly due to mishandeling in shipping. They have been great about taking care of the issue and I will have the unit replaced soon. Just in time for our weather to start getting hot.

I have been feeding the corals powdered & pellet Coral Frenzy as well as thawed mysis shrimp.

I am looking at making an acrylic piece with the middle cut out to allow me to add the Nanobox duo into the hood where the stock light fits. the stock light is just under 2" wider than the Nanobox duo so the acrylic frame added to the hood would be needed to bridge the gap between the light fixture and the stock Ledge built into the hood.
I want to keep the stock hood for its appearance and evap control. Not to mention I keep seeing cat hair on the hood and we are pretty sure my wife's elderly cat I going up there for the warmth (grumble grumble).

And thats the tank up to today. ~50 days old

That same week I also added neon trumpet coral and a rainbow montipora. I was able to drill a piece of reel reef rubble slightly larger then the stalk of the trumpet and it glued in perfectly.

~50 days old
It would seem your images are broken.

Curious why you change the soda lime every 4-7 days? I use the extra large walmart ketchup bottle for my scrubber on a 180 system. I need to change mine about every other month. I can see when the change mine because it turns purple. I also have a very tight house with quite a bit of CO2.

Your tank sounds great just wish I could see it [emoji12]

-Not sure why. I am able to see them on Mac, PC and phone in browsers I am logged into and even in browsers I have never used. Curious if others can see them.

The volume of the makeshift CO2 scrubber is pretty low (less than 1/4 cup of granuals). It is a medical oxygen line water trap. Once it has almost all turned purple I just swap it out. easy enough to add it to my weekly tank housekeeping.

Would be curious how you will be setting up your Chill Solutions CSXC-1 V5. I am considering getting one down the road.

On the CO2 - I am looking to install BRS CO2 unit on the skimmer today and see what effect it has on the PH. My only concern is the air hose. Not very asthetic looking I am assuming once installed. I guess will see.

The replacement unit is arriving today. I also ordered the wall-mount kit to help clean up the install a bit. Once it is installed and running I will post more about it.

The replacement chiller has been installed for the past week and It is keeping my temp within a half degree F of my set point. My Corals seem happier without the temp swings I was seeing before.

My ORA Neon Birdsnest seems to be doing well. It has new branches growing and old branches have grown. Still using the stock lighting.

Also found a baby snail that looks like it is starting to form it's shell.Super blurry but when I was trying to get another shot it slipped into a hole in the rock. I hope it is the Trochus reproducing and not the Turbo. That turbo is a jerk.=P

Somebody said the new snail may be a Stomatella snail. Not sure if it is since it looked like the shell growing had a spiral pattern. I guess I will keep an eye on it and see what it turns out to be. I would also wonder where it came from since the rock was dry and all corals were dipped before adding them.

How is the stock lighting working out for your corals and did you modify any of the chambers in the back?
Would be nice to see the pic of the tank and chambers. The images above does not show for some reason.

So far the stock lighting seems to be doing well overall. I think my rainbow monti is losing color, But the birdsnest is growing well.
I removed all the foam from the middle chamber and added egg-crate hold my media as well as a sheet of floss between the egg-crate and the first chamber to capture what the skimmer lets through. I will try to get some images of it. I am thinking about removing the skimmer and just putting InTank media baskets in chambers 1 and 2. I am doing ~25% changes weekly anyway. And the Fluval skimmer is really picky to easy.
Dealing with an ick outbreak right now, So I will not be doing to much to the tank until that is sorted out.

I cannot figure out why some can see the pics and others cannot. I can see them on any device I test it out with even ones I have never used that are into logged into any of my accounts. They are hosted from Google photos, Not sure if some ISPs have issue with loading images from there.

We lost the red scooter dragonet yesterday and one clown today to what looks like velvet or possibly ich. I think we will be losing the other clown too as he does not look good. So the tank will be coral and invert only for the next 2-3 months.
I guess it will be easier to control the nitrate and phosphate levels for that time, but we are sad to lose them.
Have not seen the conch in about 2-3 weeks. we knew where he buried himself for a week but now he is not there. Hopefully he reemerges soon.

Good luck with controlling the issue. It's tough I know to see your animals passed away.

Fish are all gone now. So now it just corals, snails crabs and copepods. For the next few months.

So I started this tank back on March 16th. I picked up the tank from my local fish store Neptune Aquatics. I set it up with ~15 lbs of Real Reef rock , 1 bag of Natures Ocean live sand and ~10 Gallons of their purified ocean water. I also picked up some pre-seeded MarinePure bio balls from their system. I set it all up on our old sturdy butcher block. The drip channel around the perimeter is nice for capturing any water that drips out when I am working on it.

With this I started phantom feeding my tank for about a week and started on the Red Sea reef mature kit. After that week I added a Turbo ( a serious poop factory at first) 3 blue leg hermits and a GSP frag.
I added a Hydor 240gph powerhead to improve flow in the tank. The 134gph return pump did not seem adequate.
I had some PH issues where it was consistently too low at around 7.6 and it got better with an open window and the ceiling fan running. So I could be pretty sure it was CO2 in the air getting mixed in through the skimmers air intake.
I followed a build posted on another forum and made an inline CO2 scrubber for my skimmer and the PH has been back up to 8.0-8.2 depending on the time of day tested. I change out the soda lime every 4-7 days.

I also swapped out the heater for the cobalt 50w NeoTherm. It fits with the pump better with the return pump and the old fluval 50W is now used to heat water change water.

Once everything was testing as ready I added some new frags and 2 small Ocellaris clowns.

That same week I also added neon trumpet coral and a rainbow montipora. I was able to drill a piece of reel reef rubble slightly larger then the stalk of the trumpet and it glued in perfectly.

~50 days old
I frequent Neptune weekly myself... great place!

Made 2 more additions when I went to "just get water" the other day.
Screen Shot 2017-06-07 at 10.34.33 AM.png

Weed coral or not I love the way Xenia look.

Screen Shot 2017-06-07 at 10.34.18 AM.png

and a frag of Pavona Maldivensis. It has some worms on it. I can see little feather duster looking filter feeders popping out on the left hand side.

I make the same mistake when I visit the store "simply for water"... :)

Be careful where you mount that xenia. I love em as well but my small frag from a few months back has now turned into a full on forest. Just made some frags out of the parent cluster using rubble I bought at neptune. Trying the xenia island approach in the new 5 gal I set up at work...
