Multi chip led panels

I know this is from "that other forum", but this is a pretty sweet way to diy a led system. I'm thinking about using them to retrofit my lumenbright pendant.

I have been watching that one for a few weeks... It kinda makes me want to try it, but I have heard the 3W crees will be more efficient. It's the whole Epistar, Bridgelux, Cree, Multichip, etc discussion all over again.

The point source should give a nice shimmer though, possibly putting the MH shimmer to shame. More than likely it will be more intense than the shimmer from an array of smaller LEDs.

It's a lot cheaper too. I just like the idea that i could remove the sockets for my hqi bulb and mount the heat sync and panel right in my pendant with out any destructive modifications. And all for less than 150 bucks. That's what I'm takin bout.
