My 40 gallon breeder

I have the Nero 3 for my 40, and I have two. I think it's smart to place it lower while you have that one higher! Will definitely make a great flow. You can also twin it (if that's the name on the app) to follow the first one (if you'd like).

I have the Duetto 2 ato and it works perfectly. I know the tunze is still a bit pricier, but if you're needing to save some cash for another piece of equipment you might be happy with the Duetto.

The fish and coral sales are gonna be my downfall. Man, I even have the text messages coming in, and while I don't plan on buying anymore right now, I still click the link to view them 🙈 I'm my own worst enemy 😂

I will say though on the fish side, I made an order with Dr. Reef back in February for my fish, and it took so long, I went through one tank, replaced it with my now 40, and did a full month cycle before they were ready to be shipped out. So, that's always an option. Plus, they came quarantined so it was just another step I didn't have to worry about. Make sure though that whatever fish you get that you see if they jump. Cause if they jump, you'll need a lid, and Kraken lids are expensiveeeeeeeee
Yeah I'm going to get the next nero 3 this week. So I will see what it says in the app when I get it.

I will look into the duetto. I was chatting with the BRS team on their site and they suggested the tunze ato. I am always looking at prices and finding a good deal lol.

Lid situation is a rough one. I can't find a lid for my tank 😫. Kraken doesn't even have it. I may have to DIY it also since I'm pretty much doing all HOB stuff.

I keep looking at corals and going I want it but I'm nowhere near ready for corals. It is an addictive hobby that you just want everything and want it now. Makes you learn patience.

SAME!!! It is so hard not to go through all the WYSIWYG posts and fill a cart just to not go forward with the purchase lol

I agree with the fish comment! I am currently looking for a way to lid my tank too to prevent my incoming wrasse from Dr. Reef from self-exiting...

Love my 40 breeder! Perfect mid size tank I think. A urchin makes a good cuc algae eater that want break the bank .
Thank you for the suggestion. I like it so far. It's minimal aquascape right now but plan to a little more to it when I can.

For your lid w hob equipment on the back could be a strip of egg crate notched out around equipment. Then a jumpguard mesh in front, BRS sells a much finer mesh opening vs the kit stuff. Keeps the jumpers inside

I know it's been a few days but update for the breeder. Cycle is coming along great no more ammonia. Just waiting for nitrite to be 0. Put in my second nero 3 and added a Duetto 2 ATO. Clip for the fill hose doesn't quite work with the rim but it's working out. Don't laugh at make make shift RODI resivor ( jug) for the ATO. Also got a Fire fish and watchman goby i got in my 10 tall tank for their quarantine. Pic of fish after they get into quarantine tank. They are drip acclimatting right now. Edit: some dummy (me) didn't put the sensor for the ATO in right so now I have an extremely full tank LOL 🙃 😅 😐 😑.

I have a 10% off Kraken reef lids code, if you want to go that route. Enjoy the 40b, it’s a great size. I’m loving mine

I'm starting small with some of those algae eating blennies, I'm considering a lawnmower blenny or tail spot blenny
Lol, I Love my lawnmower blenny...they are so much fun to watch. Great personality...

Nice. I looked at kraken reef they don't have a lid designed for my brand tank. Mine is an imaginarium. I didn't see a custom option either.

Ended up ordering the Tail spot from Dr. Reef because my wife liked it better :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: secretly rooting for the lawnmower tho, maybe I'll also add one of those down the road

As promised pictures of the fish. Toby the goby (watchman goby) Twiggy (Fire fish)

Have you looked into any HOB skimmer/refugium combos. They worked great for me in the past. I've used just the plain glass lids you can buy with the plastic cutouts in th back. They worked if you get jumper fish. Another option is some of the screen lid kits you cut to fit. In my experience if you piece all the cool gadgets together to build this tank just make sure they can be reused if you decide to upgrade in the future or you'll be wasting money.

Yes they are a cool size. Intimate with space is how i view mine. I have had a urchin for a couple months, got him dime sized now he is almost 50 cent piece. Great worker but he makes a hat collection. One of the most interesting mobile inverts.

I haven't seen the HOB skimmer/refugium combos. Is there any that you suggest i check out? If I upgrade to something else this tank would become a quarantine tank. So wouldn't go to waste.

You asked about algea eating fish, we have a lawnmower blenny..so much character swimming atop the rocks, and plan a diamond goby for the sand bed. Ive been told a tomini tang is suitable for a 40g cause they stay small. I hate to rehome a fish later though if not
no- you need 75+ gallons for a tomini.

Also- snails and other inverts should be relied on for algae, not blennies or other fish.

Check out the AquaReady HF-M Complete Filtration System. topdogsellers used to sell one but I don't see it. Here's a pick of a 40b with a combo unit on the back.

Update to the Breeder. Cycle has completed. Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 and Nitrate is 10. Did the water change and going to add my fishes in the little tank i have to the breeder after water temp come back up. Everyone is excited to get fish in the tank. I will add more fish before I do corals so it will be a little bit for corals unless I can't help myself lol.

Fish are in the tank! Bad picture of the damsel i know but he is hiding.
