My AEFW journey

anything that I buy, will be a frag, and if it is encrusted on a plug, I will snap it off, dip, and go from there.

That right there is whats key.

I just did as you are doing and am glad I did, like you I dip everything but it was the egss that must have got me. Nothing that I Q/T going forward stays on the plug/rock or whatever it came in on. Being my tank is not your average size it was a little bit of work, but well worth it

My last 8 local trades/purchases I did yielded AEFW on half of those acros which all came from different tanks.
There are a lot of people who have AEFW and dont even realize it.

Good luck, but from the 1 page I have read you're doing it right. I made a mistake in not letting my Q/T system cycle and I lost some colonies-not from dipping but rather my ignorance

Thanks for the comments. I use to think that we just had a lot these flatworms locally, but the more threads I read leads me to think that they are everywhere, and unless you follow a strict dipping protocol and QT, you will eventually end up with them.

Typed from my phone, because I have nothing better to do.

I think you are right I dip my corals and I still manage to spot red bugs in one of my corals

Update: I dipped all but 5 larger colonies this morning, and not a single FW was in the dip. I thought this would be the case, being that they have had good PE, and no real color loss. I have suffered a bit of STN on a couple of small frags, but overall everything has been doing well. Even the Hawkins Enchinata colony has been dipped and hasnt lost a bit of color. I think I actually have seen some growth on it too, which is crazy. I am going to dip the larger colonies in a bit, and that will tell a lot, I'll post another update soon.

Okay well, I have dipped everything, and found maybe 6 small worms. And I think they were all on one millipora colony.I think that destroyed the last of them! AEFW aint got nothing on me! :whip:

Now just preventative dips for the next 4 weeks. 4 more rounds, and they are going back into the DT.

Just a little humor to help me along....

That's funny! nine nine nine nine! LOL How far out are you until being able to place the acros back in the DT? You've gotta be close!

I'm dipping tomorrow, and one more round next weekend. If all is clear, which it should be already, they will go in around the 19th or 20th of this month.

Well, the sixline completely disappeared. I think one of my dogs ate it after it carpet surfed. I added 4 green chromis a day later, they have model citizens for the last 2 weeks. I then was starting to see little tufts of GHA sprouting on the glass and some rock, So I added a sailfin tang that is about the size of a quarter. He is AWESOME! eating algae like a champ. I went with him because I cant add snails, because the dip will kill them immediately, just like it did all the pods,Even after soaking and rinsing them. Then today, I went off my rocker and added a potters angel...

The plan is to keep it in the QT until March when I upgrade tanks. Because if I add him anytime before that, my tangs will not be happy...and neither will the potters angel.

Wow, you have added quite a bit to the DT. Glad to hear the sailfin is working out for you. Sorry to hear about your sixline... Potters angels are really cool too.

What size tank are you upgrading to? Let me guess, 180??? LOL You are a member of MTRC!

Nope 120 Baby! I wanna be more like you!

4x2x2 starphire with eurobracing. No change for any of my equipment, just a lot more depth front to back.

Glad I can inspire! haha

Very nice. I can't wait to see it. You'll love the 24" depth! March is just around the corner. Can I come help set it up/transfer things???

Sweeeet! I think I'd take a full time job setting up aquariums if it paid well. That might ruin the hobby for me though so probably a good thing that hasn't happened. If you need help just holler, I'd be glad to help out anyway I can!
