Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for, for almost 2 years. Finally a Black Tang the size I have been looking for. I got the notice today that a LFS got 3 of them in from a quarter to half dollar size. Can't wait to pick him up tomorrow, I will post pics shortly afterwards, Maybe a week or so later depending on how he does in the tank and if it's out going.

Wow! That is extremely small. Wish I could fine one that size.
How much was it? If you don't mind me asking.

They are going for 500 bucks and yea, I know at that small they are a little risky. This guy has been in QT for 2 months and is eating everything from what I was told. It will also be going into a 30 gallon with a small leapard wrasse and some inverts. Shouldn't have to worry with the Ick, the Wrasse has been in there for 3 months and was QTd prior to going in. At this size I don't wanna risk putting it in my DT.

Do you have another larger tank or upgrade plan when it grows out? I'm just saying because dropping $500 on a fish just to try and sell it later would suck...

Wait, after a re-read of the thread, it seems like the 30-gallon it's going in is temporary????

Yea, I mentioned that in my previous post that I do not wanna put it in my DT yet because of its size. And hopefully by the end of the year my 300 will be ready to set up as well.

Thanks, I will be sure to post pics up. This is not an actual LFS, but a guy that runs the buisness from his home. He assured me they are eating seaweed, pellets and a variety of frozen foods. And yea I waited 2 years ot find one this size. he had 2 Gem tangs last month this same size, but they are not on my must have list.

So for the update, I went to pick the fish up, sure enough it was under an inch as described. Unfortunately it had 3 definte signs of Ick and those spots look huge on a black tang that small. I didn't feel comfortable buying it. However another LFS has gotten 2 in today and I have one on hold. It is slightly larger about 1 1/2"s but it will do, The other one he has is smaller and was already paid for, so I missed out.

Yea, it was nice meeting you Macro, After you left DOm looked at it for awhile and saw what I was talking about. He said he is ordering a few more from his guy. I'm going to the other place I know that has the 2 later today to grab the other one if it looks good. I really liked that Gem tang he had as well, It is the perfect size and the price is right on it as well.

Ok, first update. Picked up the Tang today around noon, It is now acclimated and in the nano for now. No way is it going in the DT with an aggresive yellow and purple tang. I would say it is just over an inch long, picking at seaweed already and the occasional rock. It did eat one piece of PE mysis but then just looked at it. The 2 clowns are scared of the tang for some reason, but it insist on hanging with the clowns for now. I will try and get some pics a little later. I want to let the fish settle in.

So here is a pic and a crappy video, I know I need to clean the glass, just trying to let the tang adjust a little still.
