My Laffy Taffy has been rough for the last 3 weeks. Not much changed to really explain the bleaching. I raised my AI Primes by 2% so she went from getting 50 par to 55 par maybe Lol. The nearby zoas might be bothering her, or she was stung by another goni. She is fighting back with some color and polyp extension. Is a feeding of reef roids a good prescription? With little zooxanthallae right now she needs a bit of food I think.

In my opinion, 50 par seems low to me, my 6 goni's are in medium/higher lighting (under metal hallides) and medium/higher flow. I know some other folks are keeping it at 100-150 par, it can still acclimate to higher though.

Maybe try raising it a little higher?

It's been in there for almost a year was doing great it's right next to a purple goni that I actually had to frag. Maybe 50 par was a little bit low it's probably more like 75 to maybe 100 par. In the middle between those two AI Primes

Maybe 50 par was a little bit of an exaggeration it's probably getting between 75 and 100. And it's right next to a purple goniopora that I've had for a year and a half that I actually had to frag one of the two heads. You can see The Laffy Taffy in the middle right behind the purple goni

Yeah nothing else in the tank had any stress phosphates .05 nitrates are hovering between 16 and 20. My alk will fluctuate slowly between 8.5 and 9 depending on my tinkering,, adding new corals, increasing/decreasing my all for Reef and balling part B. I occasionally add a small amount of iodide and trace elements with small 10% natural seawater water changes if nitrates rise. Nothing big but it was certainly a combination of those variables, light, nutrients, water chemistry and trace elements that shocked the poor thing. I am optimistic though. It looks better by the day.

I thought Laffy Taffy gonis liked higher PAR than other gonis. Mine is very colorful bit doesn’t extend very much where it is and I’m thinking of moving it a little higher in the tank to see if it will extend more.

Between 75 and 150 par if fine don't fry her. They don't extend their polyps like other Goniopora.
