Love those shoals! The blue contrasted with orange coordinated movement is just
*chef's kiss
Tank is looking really good and that added fish mass is going to kick your acros into grow mode!

Agree the contrast of the chromis and Anthias is 🔥

Dang I like those anthias. Interested in how you end up feeding them, what, how often, etc

Thanks guy! I’ve always really liked anthias and chromis.

I have TDO chroma boost in an auto feeder. The new anthias don’t like it; they spit it out, just like most fish do in the beginning.

I’m feeding LRS Reef Frenzy and PE Mysis. I’m feeding very frequently to get them healthy.

I decided I’m going to potentially tear out a few rocks from left side to eliminate the clove polyp infestation that’s starting to hurt the acros.

I’ll have to detach a lot of the pieces and reglue them.

I’m going to replace them with fresh, white rocks. This is actually exciting because I’ve always wanted to document how fast white rocks turn into aged rocks in my tank. It’s very impressive.

My favorite fish, a sunburst Anthias, stubbornly will not eat pellets. I tried many including TDO (which has been my go-to). That picky fish only eats frozen. Messed up my plan for a self sufficient tank.

Soak some in selcon. Also is it dumping into a high flow zone? (Though your tank looks all high flow 🤣) mine only get excited for food when it’s blowing across the tank and have to chase it down. They’ll eat even nyos algae pellets that dump into the tank from return outlets.

lol

Yes. The food is dispersed and is readily accessible to them. They just don’t like the taste of it; they spit it right back out.

Is it normal for almost every fish to (at least initially) dislike TDO? That’s kind of what I’m observing. I might need to hunt down a different pellet brand.

Edit: I decided I’ll give TDO a little bit more time. My initial anthias didn’t like TDO initially, but now she eats it.

Every fish chows it down in my tank. Yellow tang, clowns, Anthias, chalk bass, and both wrasses. It has to be XS size though. I tried small and most would eat and spit it out and try eating again. Assuming it’s too big for there small mouths.

I’ve had good luck on every food. If don’t show interest then soak in selcon and they usually start eating it. Then a few days later will start eating without the selcon soak.

All my fish’s favorite food though is fish eggs. They go nuts for it. Want to come up with a way to auto dose it 😀

My lyretail took a few days/week to start eating the tdo. It also would only eat the small pellets/extra small for the longest time, spitting out the medium. Anthias have large mouths but small throat openings. Even now the lyretail will take a piece of food in its mouth that’s too big to swallow and spit it out. But as it has grown that food that gets spit is larger and larger.
I’d love sending 8 cubes of mysis in your tank a day lol. Of course if you’re working that’s hard, but still can probably get at least two frozen feedings a day in while they’re adjusting?
Good luck. It’s gonna take a lot of feedings to keep all those fish happy. Looking great! Sorry about the cloves. My LFS had it in one of their coral tanks and had to use chemical means of eradication. For what it’s worth the blue cloves died, but their tank was unstable for a while after. On the other hand their tanks don’t stay as stable as they should in general. This hobby always throws us a curveball just need to adapt and out the planning/work in.
I added about 10 lbs of white rock to my tank yesterday! It is crazy how fast it becomes encrusted with the good and the bad. My bubble algae has always been the only nuisance algae to take hold on new pieces of rock 🙄

Everything I feed that my fish eat minus benepets . Can’t get them to eat it. Even selcon soaked. The cuc loves it though. Most the small size pellets I crush up partial otherwise they eat, spit, try to eat again. My fish all small food eaters it seems. Even frozen I have to grind up small.

Here’s the auto feeder mixture all ground/crushed up. It’s mainly for the Anthias but they seem to love the small particles. The pellets all settle to the bottom of the reservoir.

It is cool to watch for sure! I did that to get rid of discosomas, it does surface cycle too. That is what has me back in the gha uglies for a bit.

I have had 2 anthias, so i am not an expert here. But, both of mine spit out pellets at first but the chromis gobbling them up at feeding time really got their curiosity and after a few weeks they would eat it without issue. Keep feeding both, just not any extra pellets until you see them start actually eating them.

I am starting the sterilization process to eliminate clove polyps.

Some of the clams are currently upside down, attached to the rocks in the tank. They’ll be fine lol

@Uncle99 Thanks for the courage.

I also took out the adjacent rock.

Look at the cool sponge on the clam.

FYI I don’t know why this isn’t phasing me. I’m not panicking at all. Maybe it’s from all the trauma I went through in this hobby. I’m immune. lol

There are rumors that anthias keep chromis aggression in check
This video makes me want chromis badly! I’ve never had good luck with a group of them though. Always slowly end up with 1-2 left. Kids keep saying we need a blue fish though…

I bleached the rocks, but then I used tap water to rinse it out. It made me realize copper, if in the tap, could potentially saturate the rocks which could leach into the tank.

I bought a box of new dry rocks from the LFS.

I’ll show the new rocks once I get home.
