The unboxing and adding to the tank.
He’ll color up in a week or two and grows fast! The yellow tang I got looked like a fry. It was the size of a quarter and translucent. I have no idea if he’s alive.
My tank and flow has no mercy. I am on the way home. I’ve been anxious about the yellow tang. He was swimming beside the powerhead when I added him, and I didn’t want him to get stuck.
Please please still be alive.
@Miami Reef any thoughts here?I'm debating what to do about my clam itch (good thing the #Heathens #Cronies aren't here!).
I want to get a sand bed clam like a squamosina, squamosa and/or hippopus, but my attempts to organize a zoa garden are constantly thwarted by my wrasses turning up everything in the sand. I'm a bit worried a sand bed clam is going to get knocked over or covered in sand all the time.
Thoughts?
Don't get a diamond goby. Nope nope nopeI'm debating what to do about my clam itch (good thing the #Heathens #Cronies aren't here!).

They're really iffy at that size. Looks like he's good!I came home and spent 10-15 minutes looking for the yellow tang. I closed all the powerheads, fully expecting a corpse to detach.
I kept looking and looking. I fed the tank…nothing.
Then it appeared!

Clams don’t have to be on the sandbed. Including derasa and squamosa. I’d find a way to have them slightly elevated so the sand won’t settle on them.I'm debating what to do about my clam itch (good thing the #Heathens #Cronies aren't here!).

Translucent to full color. Plus growing like a weed!![]()
@Miami Reef any thoughts here?
I'm inclined to say a clam cradle on the bottom glass to raise it up above / closer to the top of the substrate.
Edit: sorry- I thought this was JoJo's thread and didn't realize it was yours, Miami. Didn't mean to tag you in your own house.

Nah, they don’t require sand. It’s just a lower light area. They can thrive anywhere else.I could try to make a perch. I thought squammies were more comfortable in sand, though.
Daily:Me too.

One of the greatest things I’ve seenI use some of my acros as clam holders lol

Forgot you do that.Looks like progress! Sometimes you use a scalpel, other times a sledge hammer lol.Ooh! I’m glad you asked.
So remember the clove polyp issue I had? It resulted in me having a TON of new real estate for upcoming acros since I had to yank out the infected rocks as if they were tumors.
Have you noticed why I’ve only been showing the right side of the tank?
This is the left.

I also have some acros skellies that I could use to make a cradle... @Fish StyxI use some of my acros as clam holders lol

Oh yeah, I've got some dried old reef rocks I can easily make into a nice cradle. I'm wondering if zoas getting on the clam's rock would become a problem...Nah, they don’t require sand. It’s just a lower light area. They can thrive anywhere else.
You can use PVC if you can find a way to hide it with rocks for aesthetic purposes.
