my upgrade journal/journey

so what about all the live rock in the sump? can it sit until tomorrow? or does it need a bubbler and stuff to?
It can sit until tomorrow. Circulation is good but not completely necessary for an overnight.

hi @Remi! havent heard out of you for awhile. hows the tank?
Hi Jill,
Got absorb with work, so the tank is on full autopilot, miss a few dozen of pages on smorg here and there. Some lps seem a bit angry, a bit of hair algae.

So happy the tank transfer will be very soon, you are all well prepared. It will all go well and we want pics when all settle.

i am super excited because i am getting ready for a big (for me) upgrade! but also really nervous because this is the first time that ive put a build together all by myself. so i am hoping for lots of you to chime in and help me! it wont be fast going im sure. but please feel free to give your opinion!
we go tomorrow to pick up the set up. its about 5 hrs. from here. its a CDA tank 180 gallon tank with a bashsea sump. i found a business selling the set up. they had put it together for a client who changed his mind. so they took it down. it had water in it but no livestock. so its in like new condition.
i think i will replace the sand instead of moving it from my current tank. thoughts? whats a good rule of thumb to know how much to buy?
here is a picture of it before it was taken down

That is beautiful! Looking forward to seeing all of your progress!

i cant sir. im laying back in my chair too sore to get up and get the ibuprofen bottle 😝 and im still not done. will have to finish tomorrow!
wholly understandable, get some rest and we can get the grand reveal when both you and the tank have settled :)

before i hit the sack- i have the sand in and about 5 in of water. will the snails be ok without water movement? i dont have any power heads going yet

I’ve received tanks that have been sitting anywhere from more or less dry to stagnant 2” of water, for 1-3 days that still have a half-dozen snails alive in them! — they’ll crawl to the water line, it seems…

never again. wow. remind me to never change tanks again. haha
Awesome work!

Don’t worry… give it six months… you’ll slowly but surely forget how painful the move was, and end up measuring for an 8ft tank out of curiosity!

I AM SO TIRED!! worked at this all day and got all the corals in but not the fish. i dont quite have the temp where i want it yet. im holding my breath because the some of the corals sure dont look happy. what if i kill everything? still have to do all the cord management and put the lights up. another day!🥱

Large volumes of water take a LONG time to change in temp… as long as you’re in the 70’s, things will survive!

— just double check heat, and flow before calling it a night; mistakes happen during transfers!
