Super new to the hobby. My narrow-lined puffer has what looks like a sore on his mouth. I tried my best to get a photo of it. I have a 125g FOWLR my tank cycled for two months with only live rock and live sand. End of month 2 I added a pair of clowns. Four month I added zebra eel (2 feet long), narrowlined puffer, blue spotted puffer, and yellow tang. ( I know too many at a time. I should have researched instead of listening to the LFS) so that was about three weeks ago. I had a tiny ammonia spike (.50) and what seemed like a short cycle. Levels have been at 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, about 5.0 nitrates and PH 8.4. I’m also feeding every other day so I’m not sure if he’s going to eat as he normally does. This just appeared today (few hours ago)

I would just observe this for now - if the fish goes off feed, or if the lesion spreads then be prepared to take action (but that would be to move it to a treatment tank). Probably just an injury. It could be a granuloma from Mycobacteria, but that isn't treatable, and may not prove to be fatal.

A couple of observations - your 0.50 ammonia reading, at a pH of 8.4 is very severe. At that high of a pH you need to keep the ammonia at non-detectable levels, certainly below 0.25. As you are no doubt aware, the weight of your eel is what caused that - it probably weighs 10x the weight of all your other fish combined. I would be worried about long term compatibility of the puffers with your eel, they may go after its eyes.

Thank you for your knowledge. Omg I hope he isn’t suffering. I’ve been up reading all night and can’t find anything. He was in a tank with a puffer, string ray, and a few triggers. I hope they will all be okay.

I would also be very careful housing puffers with a stingray - puffers are known for biting their eyes also. Not when young, but as they grow it becomes very common.

Sorry, I may have worded that wrong. Those were his tank mates at the pet store. Thank you again. I’ll keep a close eye and keep the post updated. Also, He ate well today.
