Having fish problems lately...
Two of the blue reef chromis had a bacterial infection and died a day or two after I put some medicine in the qt (one the first day, and the other the second day). One is left, it's the bigger size out of the three, but last night it was shy (hanging out at either the bottom back corner or the top back corner near the return pipe) and not really swimming around. It did eat though. Hopefully it will pull through and was just having a bad day.
Over July 4th holiday, I was on vacation Wednesday to Sunday. I fed my fish the morning before leaving and returned in the afternoon on Sunday. I usually feed my fish daily. When returning, I noticed that my cherub angel was missing. It was actually hiding in a rock. It came out a little bit and got some food, but that was the last I saw of it. I'm thinking it couldn't survive because there wasn't enough algae in my tank to supplement the daily feedings. I'm really sad about this lose, as it was a favorite fish of mine, always out swimming and exploring. I will look into getting another one after my tank matures.
I checked my ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites, but they were all in line where they need to be.
The other fish are doing great though. I have a Wyoming White Clownfish (from my 20g), a red Flame Hawkfish, and just added a Midas Blenny.
That's it for now on the fish additions. I'm gonna wait and see how things turn out. Then move my other clown and the anemone.
I'm slowly moving coral over from the 20g also. I moved a mushroom, a zoa frag, a hammer, and some alveopora to check how they like the flow. All seem to be doing good so far. Oh and I bought a red planet sps frag as an experiment. Fingers crossed.

The stand is awesome. Since I too live in Houston, I need to make a mental note for if I ever need a custom aquarium stand in the future to ask you for the name of the person you went to so I can have them make me one too. The turtle handles are a nice touch. Actually... I think my mom wanted some sort of cabinetry or storage for the backyard, and she loves decorating around the swimming pool with turtle themed items... hmm..

Just can't catch a break it seems...
My new Midas Benny, who's name was Elvis, decided to jump yesterday. I only had him for a week, but he was the coolest fish.
I will be making a lid this weekend. Lesson learned.
Here's a pic of him on his throne.

Swapped over some corals from the 20g (another hammer, some zoas, and a few mushrooms).
Battling some kind of white/clear slime lately on the rocks. I'm hoping it's a bacterial bloom and not dinos. It's really annoying, it clogs up my filter socks in about 2 days and makes my skimmer go out of wack. I'm not dosing anything. I just turkey baster it into a fine fishnet everyday to try to remove the most that I can.

Some good news. My stringy, cotton looking, white mucus has disappeared on it's own after 2 weeks. I don't know what it was from. Maybe a bacterial bloom from a frebreeze pet spray that we have been using at home got in the tank?
Corals seem to be doing good. I can tell I need more light from the zoas that are stretching. I plan on getting the new maxpect jump led light when it comes out next month. In the meantime, I'll try to find that fine line with my Kessil and hope for no algae growth!

I made a lid today with a clear screen from Amazon and a window screen from kit from Home Depot. I also had some black interlocking egg crate that I used to cover the overflow and to notch out my return pipe. I think it turned out great! No more jumpers!

I've been waiting a couple of months for this light to hit the US. It finally did, so I got it the first chance I could and installed it this evening. It's a Maxspect Jump LED MJ-L165.
So far I'm impressed. It is smaller that I originally imagined, but that's a good thing. The mounting arm, which is included, was easy to assemble and adjust. The wifi app is easy to use, watching some short videos on YouTube from Maxspect helped. Adjusting color spectrum and schedule is easy, similar to the Prime lights. You can create your own, or there are some presettings available, or you can import an QR Code that has someone else's settings. The coverage seems to fill up my 24"x24" 50g nicely. I can't wait to see how this light performs and fill up my tank! #Maxspect #CoralVue #marinedepot

I'm upsizing from a IM nuvo 20g to a SCA 50g cube. I found a good deal on a used tank with sump and skimmer, so had to pull the trigger. This is going to be my first tank with a sump. In the past, I started with a Fluval 5g, then a Fluval 13.5g, and now the IM Nuvo 20g. Baby steps.

My first step was trying to find a stand for the tank. The cube is 24" x 24", and the sump is also 24" wide. I wanted to also house my ATO reservoir in the stand, along with electronics. This all led me to having a custom stand built that was a bit wider than the actual tank.

So we finalized the design in Sketchup and then he built the cabinet. Here are some pics of the process.

Yes! That side door is a must have. I added one to my 60 cube after it was up and running
