Nauti Tank 75g Build

Hmmm... Not clams.

You ordered another Wrasse - I'm thinking Black Leopard.

You also ordered a Walt Disney and a Strawberry Shortcake Acropora and a Black Widow BTA?

How's that for specific?
No corals this time, but the order with the 4 fish several posts ago from Drs Reef does have an anemone in it. No idea when that order will be delivered yet though. I’ll give a hint; Biota.

@tbrown i think you have convinced me, when the time some to get one of each. You’re a tough negotiator…

@Miami Reef has both Ultra and Ultra golds I believe.
You trying to break my other arm too? 😉🤣
Ultra gold you ask?

Ooh Eye candy, Miami posted a bunch of pics of maximas. I probably should wait a couple paychecks before another big purchase though… We’ll see how that turns out…

I have some from a few days ago. Frags are all on the bottom acclimating to the lights. As of today, I have a dino outbreak…

I think he meant of the Mandarins.

I think he meant of the Mandarins.

You know, the ones on order that haven't arrived yet.
I tried to give the benefit of the doubt as that wouldn’t make sense. In any case, I think I should have run the tank with the fish for a couple weeks before turning the lights on even though I cooked the LR in a 100g stock tank for 4-5 months.

One of them is always out and about actively hunting pods. The other is a bit reclusive and is the one that you can’t see well with the green circle in its cave. The active one is about 3/4 of an inch and the head is about as big around as a pencil. The other one I would guess is about 25% smaller.

The 75g display seems to be getting a hold of the dino situation. I cut the lights back a lot. in particular the whites. And the pods pooulation is really taking off. Not sure which of the 2 things are really making a dent in the dino population. Just need some type of algae to take hold and out compete them at this point.

Some type of WONDERFUL snail known as a Stomatella.

The dinos seem to be gone now. It seems like a brown hair algae is taking hold in place of the dinos. The corals are all doing well except the red dragon acro that died 2 days after arrival the Oregon tort is doing well though. I’m thinking that I will start to mount some of them tomorrow if I get time in between building my lovely 🥰 wife a goat shed.

I ordered another mandarin to make the pair again. The one still in the tank looks to be a female so I used biotas’ 7 day alive guarantee gift card to order a male.

Those of you who have experienced dinos before; How long do you think I should take to transition the lights back to the higher output spectrum I had before?

Not a whole lot of reefing activity happening this weekend. The glass is filthy, still need to move the corals up to a higher light spot, I might wait until after getting the lights back up to the higher output spectrum but they do look pretty good all things considered. Maybe iI’ll have time to clean the glass and get some pics tomorrow, no promises.

I have managed to get the wires and controllers wrangled for the most part, I am painting some standoff blocks to allow for more airflow around the power bricks for the ReeFis. Then set up the ATO that is just laying there taunting me. TBH since I put the cover on the main tank the evaporation is very minimal so it not a big deal. The skimmer is working like a champ, pic below is less than a week’s worth of skimmate. I am having to feed extra to keep nutes up.

I found this trail of what I believe to be a rock boring work poop. Can anyone confirm?

We started and finished framing the goat shed today with the exception of the end cap at the top of the roof trusses. Just need to skin and roof it now.

So, I’ve been committing reefer sacrilege since setting up the tank. Today was the first time I have tested parameters… I have been dosing AFR based off of the baseline in the instructions and observations. I don’t have a whole lot of corals yet so I figured after about a week of having them in there with the freshly mixed water and starting to see the corals slowly decline that I would start to dose. At this point they started to open back up all the way, the duncan oddly is still closing up randomly I’m a little baffled TBH, I might need to put it in some higher lighting that the almost shade its in now…. Anyway parameters cane back pretty good.

I also cleaned the skimmer cup for the first time. Nice thick skimmate as a product of overfeeding to get some nutes on the board for dinos and the LPS and softies that are in there. Now I just have to find some type of balance. Has anyone ever considered using skimmate as a fertilizer? I considered pouring it into one of my compost piles but figured I would look into it a bit first.
