Hey everyone, I picked up my first acro frags 1 week ago and they’re not looking too good. The purple 1 is in worse shape but now today even the green 1 on the left in the second picture seems to have some tissue loss now. Looking for advice on what to do to save them if possible, or what to do differently next time.
My tank is softies and LPS mostly. I have a birds nest, digi, and stylo I introduced a few months back that have been doing very well so thought I’d try some more SPS. The first picture is the day I put them in the tank, the 2nd is 1 week later. I know these guys are more challenging to keep, trying to figure out if the issue is my tank isn’t ideal for acros, if I did something wrong when introducing to the tank, or some other issue.
I temp acclimated, dipped, then added them to the tank. The spot they are in has good flow and ~200 PAR. But it looks like they’ve been steadily losing tissue the past 2 days.
Tank info:
- Established for several years
- salinity 1.025
- temp 78.5 degrees
- magnesium 1350
- calcium 425
- alkalinity 8
- pH 8.2
- phosphate and nitrate both 0
It’s always been a low nutrient tank, all my other corals do great in these conditions. So not sure if my parameters aren’t ideal for acros, if I should have introduced differently, or if something else is wrong. Any advice appreciated.
