So I’m just writing to see if anyone has conquered this problem. So I have a 20 gal long, every time I put a cleaner shrimp in there they develop black spots on them and then eventually die. I put one that was in my 40b to help with clean up then he developed black spots, then started looking crippled. He looked like he was gonna die so I moved him back and it’s fine now . I put a new shrimp in my 20 last week an this week he had black spot. He molted yesterday and now he’s lookin a little broken down. Help

his tentacles are messed up and eventually they start to deteriorate physically.

Black spot disease is a fungal disease primarily with freshwater shrimp. There is black gill disease which is a fungal disease similar to black spot. Were stabbin' in the dark here though because the shrimp looks fine other than jacked up antennae which are not unusual in a newly molted specimen. Pics of the diseased shrimp would be ideal. If it is a fungal disease then it is very difficult to treat and generally ends in death. Have you tested for iodine and do you dose iodine?

Ya he just molted, he had sum spot around his ribs. No&No. I don’t dose anything and don’t have an iodine test kit. What is iodine good for?

Good for the overall health of your crustaceans.
