I have a newly established sca 150, has 7 fish in it so far. I introduced 2 female flame wrasses and a earmuff last week and a couple days after saw a bunch of spots that looked like ick on the flames. They were eating and no one else in the tank showed any signs of anything including the earmuff so I just kept a eye on them. A couple of days later they had no more spots everybody seems extremely healthy. It’s been a week and everybody looks fine. I was thinking of pulling everybody from the tank but didn’t know if it was worth the hassle of trying to catch everybody. I have a extra 30 Breeder but didn’t want to use copper in it unless I have to, I was going to drill it and use it as a frag tank down the road. What would you guys do?????????

In the tank I have
Sunburst
Miatus Blenny
Earmuff wrasse
2 female flames
Moyer leopard
Goby

In qt
29 tall at 2 more weeks till ready
Chevron tang
Achilles tang

10gal qt 2 weeks till ready
Purple tang

10 gal ready
2 blotched

Welcome to R2R! The wrasses because of their thick slime coats can sometimes live with Ich and do fine. The problem you may confront is when you add into the tank fish that don't do so great with Ich. Like some of the fish in your QTs for example.
Here's some good reading on your situation: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/ich-eradication-vs-ich-management.188775/#post-2171424

Thanks, Yeah the tangs are my big concerns! It’s going to be a sps dominant tank and I’m going to have a lot of high end fish and don’t feel like dealing with it later on.

Not yet. I think I’m going to. I’m out of town and have my buddy watching my tank and dogs. I’ll will be back next week and I’m going to pull everybody and put them in a 30 Breeder for the 72 days. Sucks but want to handle it correctly

I would pull them and QT them if it were me. That Achilles you have will likely not live long term in an ich management tank.

For wrasse I use copper power at 1.75ppm monitored with a Hanna checker. Works well for them. I have several leopards, Halo, and fairy wrasse.

Thanks for the responses. I use cuprion and I usually put right under the recommended dosage of 1 drop per gal. For the 29 gal I usually put 25 in 4-5 day period. I always get nervous with the wrasses and dose even less of I dose at all. Should I switch to copper power?

Invest in a Hanna copper checker. You need to know exactly what level of copper your tank is at. For ionic copper you’d be looking for .5-.55ppm.

I’d advise copper power (chelated copper) for wrasse, however.

I wanted to add a pair of rhomboid wrasses and just qt with the 7 fish I’m pulling from my display. Is 9 fish to much for my 29 tall?
