Never quarantined before

I never used to quarantine my fish and things were fine for a long time… until recently, when ich hit my tank out of nowhere and wiped almost everything out. I’m down to just two surviving fish now.

I’ve since set up a quarantine tank for future fish, but here’s the issue:
One of the survivors is extremely large, and my QT is really small. I’ve already spent a lot getting the QT up and running and realistically can’t afford to set up another larger one.

So my question is — what’s the best move from here? Do I have to move the current fish into QT and let the display tank go fallow for 6+ weeks? Or is there any way around that, given the QT size limitations? I want to avoid repeating this disaster, but I’m kind of stuck right now.

I'll point out that you can use other containers in place of a tank for QT. For example, large plastic storage tubs can be aquarium safe, and many use things like plastic stock tanks from farm/feed stores that offer a lot of volume for the money.

Do you have inverts?

Hypo can be done if no inverts but it will only treat ich and flukes.

As far as budget Qt's go, you can just use a sturdy plastic rubbermade/storage tub, clay pots for hiding, and a sponge filter/air pump. I cycle my sponge filter with fritz 9. Super cheap setup.
