Tossing the pia 12 inch foot print and moving to the 40 Breeder. This will be my second system I have set up, with that comes "things I'd do differently"
This system will start off with dry rock! No more hithickers for me. A better aquascape, hard plumbing, and a larger sump plus a few other little changes.
Due to limited space in my condo this is the largest I can go. I have a deep blue professional stand for my 30 gallon but I hate it. It's such a piece of junk. Stands are limited and not cheap.
So I decided to build my own (with the help of my father), best decision. Total cost $134.65
I plasti dip the inside of the stand
6 inches of the back will be seen so I finished 12 inches of the back.
We used 3/4 for the sump floor and top.
Finishing wood for the sides, face, doors and part of the back.
For the doors we used 1/2 finished wood.
I wanted a very clean simple look, no molding. The stand is the exact size of the tank which will give it the Red Sea look. Stained it with 2 coats of stain and 2 coats of satin top coat. The Handles match the finish almost identical which was not planned! Hinges are spring loaded to stay closed. On the inside I mounted 1/2 on both sides for pump controls, power strips, reactors and uv.
I have a order from BRS full of goodies on it's way. This system will be hard plumped, unlike my current system which has a lifereef HOB overflow and vinyl tubing.
Picked up a new sump Aqueon Proflex model 3.
I will be selling a lot of corals from my current system and going a bit less busy on my new system. I went a little over board on my current system with corals.
Current system
Will update soon!
