Hi Friends - just wanted to give ya'll a heads up on a new scam that I just witnessed on Facebook today when trying to sell a couch. They basically asked me for my address and phone number and said they were going to send a "confirmation code" from Facebook Marketplace to verify my listing...and to give them the code. I sell a lot on FB Marketplace but never buy...so i thought this was a new security thing (and I never give out my address).
Turns out - I got the code from Google Voice. The Scammer basically was trying to hijack my phone number and use it on their own Google Voice account.
Obviously I reported them but they don't care, they just are making another burner account. But don't get caught friends! FB doesn't need to verify sellers!
