Kind of my point earlier in the thread. But... the healthy dialogue in the thread is good to have. As we go further into the future...I'm afraid we will talk about the "good old days" when all you got was an unsolicited email. Technology can be great and can also quite possibly be the end of us. All of it will be a new road we all walk so it's beneficial to discuss IMO.
I mean, what's next lol?? You visit the site, a coral then shows up at your house, and your card is conveniently charged? I really hope it doesn't get much worse than unsolicited emails lol!
See where we disagree is you think Sbb is unethical, where I think the company driving the software is at fault. I don’t like marketing data tools in general, but they are a key to a large part of our economy. I think there needs to be way more control around how any company can use/gather data, even if I have low hopes of that happening.

Oh, I'm mad at Opensend too lol! But I'm just as upset at the business who decides to use it. And I know, someone will reply that "everyone" does it, which, for one, is not an excuse. But it's also simply not true, as this is the first and only time this has ever happened to me. No other site have I ever just visited once for a couple of minutes, and then was "automagically" signed up to their email list. If this was a widespread thing, my inbox would be packed full of garbage I don't want, but it's not (yet).

Too late. Amazon had these “convenient” push button ordering devices ten years ago. I had a coworker who’s cat pressed the buttons and he wondered why all these orders for laundry detergent kept showing up.
No, like any online vendor where you create an account, and they sell that info to others, and this happens all the time.
That I'm not a member. Their email had an opt-out, and to their credit they seem to have honored my request. Their email did not list a physical address, which they really should have in their marketing.

Im sorry, but at this point, I feel like you're overreacting at this point, ik its bad, but u have to understand that this happens with SOOOO many companies, idc if this is your first time getting an email, but instead of stealing info and texting u, or selling it to scammers, sbb/opensend didnt do that, they just sent u one harmless email, it doesnt hurt u inANY way

I've had a home based business in the past, but yes, that's what a PO box is for :winking-face:
