I have another spare qt tank that is cycled and I just got a new fish and it is acting weird. It is by itself so there is no threat. I saw it eat very little the first day now it appears it wants nothing to do with food. Breathing seems fine. However it seems to hang out in the corner a lot. See the video. Any advice? Or just wait a few days. I got this 2 days ago. Thank you

How was fish acclimated and for how long?
Is tank its in medicated with anything?
If so, remove that rock which is absorbing medication OR check and adjust medication to level
What foods are you offering?

Is fish flickering its fins or doing sudden darting?

The fish was put in the tank in bag for 10 minutes. Salinity was same. In about 20 minutes I moved water over. I just put in Paraguard in today. Should I try copper? No darting or flicking fins. I am trying clams my sis shrimp. Angel food frozen cube and algae cube.

Acclimation was very short but likely not the issue. Paraguard in use of terms- Worthless and coppersafe is best at 2.25 ppm. Do not ramp the coppersafe but get to level within 24 hours. Coppersafe or copper power, best for a full 30 days. Optional is follow with praziPro for two treatments 8 days apart with water change in between after copper treatment and add air stone.
Try algae/nori sheets and even massticks fish food as enticer.

Thank you . I will do copper. So you think it’s a parasite that will be solved by copper?

If parasites, copper will indeed clear it but coppersafe takes a couple of days to take effect

The video is out of focus and the glass is a bit dirty, but it doesn't seem to be breathing fast. It is never a good sign though, when a new fish eats at first, but then stops. That implies something in your tank is causing that, not something that the fish brought in with it when you got it, or some issue with acclimation.

Do you know the history of this fish?
Is the ammonia in the tank being well-controlled?

This species can be pretty delicate, but if they are collected in Australia, they are usually handled fairly well prior to sale (a few of these come in from other areas though, and those may not be as sturdy).

Hello jay I just got it the other day online. When I say it ate it was a few bites but not much. The tank is cycled and is under control with new Rossi water every few days. I am starting copper tonight ramping up.
