New picotope

I decided to pick up this little 3 gallon picotope this morning for my wife who's 5 months pregnant and has trouble sleeping at night. I figured this would give her something nice to look at on her night stand. I'm hoping to get a few sexy shrimp and some corals after I make a few upgrades. I'll add more photos as it clears up and I get some livestock in it.

Here's an updated photo after it cleared up. I also made an acrylic top for it to help with evaporation.

Nice little tank, I love that piece of LR it's nice!! Do you have a PH meter? I would recommend to check PH with cover on and with cover off to see if it effects your PH level..

Thanks for the heads up on the possible ph issue. I'll keep an eye on it and if it becomes and issue I'll just remove the top. I'll have the ato system up and running either today or tomorrow so the top most likely won't be need after that.

The scape is made up of 6 pieces of totoka LR and 2 pieces of Fiji base cost me about $9 at my LFS. Took me forever to get it how I liked it.

Yeah she loves it . I also killed 2 birds with one stone cause tomorrow is her birthday. I know Ill end up maintaining it but im ok with that.

What is everyone's opinions on maxi mini anemones ? I wanna get a few for the sexy shrimp. My LFS has them but I may end up moving before I can put any in the tank, so what's a good place to find them online?

Great looking rockwork. Might want to add more light, screw in LED fixtures work great for this. Just modded my GF and I's picotope to have an AQ70 refugium. (with AQ20 impeller) We also have a Hydor Pico powerhead. Best of luck! Keep posting some photos.

I just broke down my picotope. Loved the little tank. I just sold my custom LED fixture that was made just for it. I had a maxi mini in my tank for the longest time. only draw back- it liked to move around a bit. I ended up trading the maxi mini for some SPS. The Sexy Shrimp have since hosted my frogspawn in my RedSeaMax. I used the AC70 too. Only difference, I modded the intake and did nothing to the impeller.
