I'll preface this with I'm not new to saltwater. My 32g has been up for four years this next month. I had a crocea for about a year and a half and it died somehow when I was on vacation.

I have a 200g setup now and I'm slowly transferring corals over. I want to add a few clams to the 200g and I'm trying to figure out placement and how long my tank needs to be established. Also, can I QT a clam in a fairly new tank outside in the sun for light. I kind of figure in Southern California, I can throw it in a 10g with a HOB and a sicce nano with sunlight.

Help me out with timing for adding crocea, maxima and a derasa. This is the 200g running Reefi Uno 2.1s which crank par.

Clams are easy. I think anytime is fine. Just pay attention to the Ca and Alkalinity number, not overzealous about remove all the nutrients from the tank.

K, thanks. I'm pretty good at dialing in my doser with AFR on my 32. Still testing frequently on the 200 as I move corals over.

Surprisingly, it is running low nutrients even with feeding heavy and tangs. Only 16 fish in the 200 so far, but a Reefmat roller and oversized reef octopus skimmer is keeping phos at .08 and nitrate at 30.

What are your thoughts on just sunlight for a QT tank? Can you be too sterile on a QT for clams?

Sunlight is likely not enough. Due to heat issue. Full sun light has a lot of heat associated with it. Either that or not enough light. I would use spot light. Use one of the 6000K lED spot light for QT tank for anemone and clams is likely to be fine.
