The zoa thing is overrated. Dont let the palytoxin thing sway you. It is very rare that people get hurt from it. You'd read about it a lot here if it was a serious issue. If in doubt just put on gloves and wear a face shield but i only do that if I am cutting them.

You dont need a skimmer, but its nice to have for a few reasons.

Leathers, mushrooms, and zoas would do great in that tank.
