I jave not had a true nano in a very long time so when i saw this tank at my LFS Fjw i could not pass it up. Plus my wife wants a small tank for aome of her treasures.
I present the JBJ desktop series 10g nano.
We just got back from Indonesia and some of the zoas we picked i want to farm on a smaller level. This is going to be a quick cycled tank. Managed with frequent small water changes.
It will be super zoa heavy and I want to showcase some of the nicer things we have.
Placement is in the kitchen on the ledge of the kitchen counter.
On initial inspection of the tank it is fairly simple. The filtration is movable so there is no set space allotted for it. I like this in the aspect of the ability to move based on what you want out of the tank. I chose the peninsula style as it fit the space better. The light that comes with the tank is sleek. I am not sold on using it just yet but i am going to give it a shot. I have another option that fits perfectly in the spot and it is the AI prime.
Pictures of the included light up close. The buttons are touch sensitive.
I tried setting up a timer for the light and it appears it does not have memory function so when it is powered off you have to manually hit the buttons.
Switching to the prime will solve this though so i am leaning heavier and heavier on just making the switch.
Filtration.
The box has a heater spot in the first "chamber". I chose a cobalt small heater as i have uaed the multiple times in the past with zero issues.
There is a slight issue with water height and i thino the design can be improved with lowering the return nozzle. The chamber fills with water and does not properly flow through the chambers.
I will get a video of this soon. The flow aspect.
Black sand as if i go with sand it has always been black. I prefer the contrast of it with the colors.
And i had this left over from starting up another system. I use all of Fritz products down to the salt. I have had great luck with it so why change things now for a nano in the house?
Rock scape was fairly easy I am not sure of tank inhabitants as of yet but there are probaly some striking clowns that i will pick up. I liked naked versions of clowns and will be super selective for this.
I will add water and sand and start things off getting it prepped and ready for some awesome zoas i plan on adding.
I would also like to take a picture a day to so the progression for the next year of the tank. Since I travel for work I am going to have to teach my wife on how to snap a picture and upload it to keep the progression of the tank up to date.
Cheers to the new start of a nano!
