Hi all, newbie from New Zealand here. I've been considering a reef tank for a while now, then got gifted a free 20 gal tank from a neighbour and figured that was as good an excuse as any.

The tank is sumpless and previously freshwater, so my plan for now is to set up a simple tank with a fire goby, possibly also a cleaner shrimp and some hardy beginner corals, with HOB equipment and then transitioning it into a quarantine tank when I end up upgrading to a larger tank.

I'm eager for any advice y'all have for me, and I'm sure I will be asking plenty of questions on my journey :)

Welcome to your new home for saltwater reef aquarium resources and fun! Welcome to the family! :D

To start....I AM SO JEALOUS! New Zealand has been on my Bucket List since the 6th grade (48 years back)! I did a report on it! It's nothing short of a Stunning Country. That being said....Greetings and Welcome to our collective obsession!!

Thank you! I'm always grateful to live here, surrounded by so much beautiful landscape to explore. I'm looking forward to getting some very different beauties of nature in my living room in time
