What's the spead on these lights? I don't see it on the website.
I see mounting at 8 to 12 inches but what does that cover? 24 to 30 inches?

I may need lights soon for my 60"x24" footprint. I think 3 mounted vertical or 4 mounted horizontal(1 front 1 back) but that all depends on spread.

This I don't understand.
24"x24" by this logic means 1 round puck covers 24" one direction. This light has 2 pucks. The unit is 8.25", assuming the pucks are 6ish" apart, wouldn't it cover 30"x24"?
Or maybe it's 18"x24"? If the pucks are round, 24x24 doesn't make sense.

I know I'm over thinking this but it's what I do when unsure about a decision.

You are overthinking it. It's not going to be even par. You can keep your coral alive in a 24x24 area but possibly only keep acros in a 12x8 area. Not many puck lights are going to give an even par spectrum. Usually, when a company states 24x24 that's for LPS and SPS is nearly half. I bought one for a 36x16 40b and I assume that this light will be good for a 1/3 of the tank. It will be flanked by 2x Hydra 26s. Granted, acros will be in the center with LPS on the outside with each light running at 50%. Running more lights allows for more even par distribution and much lower power increasing the LEDs lifespan and possibly preventing burnt lenses. For $150, load your tank up and buy an extra just in case. People are throwing money away buying big name lights nowadays.

I currently have the K7 mini 60W and TBH was just going to be a starter, but I got some gen 3 XR30 and they were a pain in my butt and I switched back. The lights have been great for me with 2 on my 55gallon however the mounting bracket on a rimmed aquarium is super sketchy, but other than that elite lights. Now, I want to upgrade my lights due to them being almost maxed out and the highest par on my rocks which are about 60% height of my tank is 180, and that doesn't rly cut it for SPS. Been eyeing the K7 Pro 3 so wondering if any of you have these and have a par meter and could give me a little video of the height of your light to water level and then from water level to your rock and give some readings. Really wanna buy them but just wanna see what I would be getting par wise from them.

So for a footprint of 60"x24" I would need 5 or 6.
Either 3 in front, 3 in back, OR 2 in front, 2 in back, 1 in the middle.

More a function on if you want to eliminate shadows vs requiring that many due to par. I have 3 over my 48x24 and could get away with 2, no channels go above 50% for my acro/ Monti dominant tank. If you did 4 you could mount them all sideways like the middle one in your sketch and get great spread. My random Monti plate in bottom right is doing well about 34” from the nearest light. If I had your dimensions I’d use 3.

I run 6 over a 72x24x24" tank and get 300 par on the bottom where my clams are. That said mine are in a canopy and only 7 inches off the water. The two on the left are closer together so the clams get more light.

I'll be moving them over to a new build that is a 84x30" footprint. I have the mount built but am not sure when I'll be moving the lights over. I'll be measuring par with an Apogee 510 when I do and will post results. I'm not sure if I'll mount them long wise front to back or end to end. I'll have to see how they light the rock. I'm not worried about getting light from edge to edge, I just need it on the rock where coral will be. This is where I'll be moving them to.

I think I'll be ok with 6. I'm not planning any acros just bringing the coral over from the 180. I tossed on 3 old xr15s temporarily and on low I'm getting light in the areas I need it so I'm hoping 6 K7s work. We shall see. This is the rock scape I'll be ligting.

Thanks for both of your replies. Yes I'm looking for more of blanket light. I guess I'm used to my reefbreeders but they are 8 years old next month. My new tank with that footprint is coming today and I'll be starting to build it out. For now I'm going to move over the reefbreeders and 4 T5 bulbs will be flanking the light. Not sure how long the light will last but it's still getting good par for now.

I almost went with photons on my new build. I run them on two tanks, one with a 4 bulb t5 hybrid and am really happy with them. I just couldn't justify the expense since I already have the noopsyches.

Yes, the new maridian lights are even more!
I like the functionality of them but I think I got priced out.

How long did it take y’all to get you Noo-Psyche lights? I placed my order on the 16th of March and order still says awaiting for fulfillment.

I have a k7 v3 (not the pro) y'all think 1 is enough in a hybrid T5 over 30"?
