For reference I had issues when my PO4 was below 0.04ppm. If I keep it around 0.1 I don’t have issues. Not to revive an old thread but I am no chemistry major.
After reading through this thread, I have concluded that measurable phosphate is the most important factor in coral growth and health. My system is over 1 year old, if I struggle with low phosphate, would it be beneficial to feed more, put some sort of phosphate additive on a doser, such as plus NP, or Phos-Feed, Ammonium bicarbonate, or what would be your recommendation?
I feel as if I feed more than enough now. I had dosed Neo nitro and Neo phos in the past and all that did was supply nuisance algae. Not going that route again.
Part of it may be measurement error and the other is I don’t have sufficient fish population.
My suggestion, if you do not have sufficient fish population is to use TM Phos feed to supplement.
It doesn’t seem to promote algae vs. some liquid supplements and corals do look happy:
For N I prefer ammonia vs. NO3 additive. Also my NO3 is typically 0.2-3 ppm.
I feed my fish pellets 2 to 3 times a day, nice happy fish is a good thing. For filtration I only use skimmer and GAC.
Good luck,
