Odd thing on Red Planet.

There is an odd stringy thing on my Red Planet. Not entirely sure what it is. Kind of looks like long stringy feeders. The coral doesn't seem unhappy and has normal polyp extension.

Definitely not eggs. They change in length and look nothing like an eggs I've seen before.

Well for a red planet thats not very good polyp extension. But they are nice pics wish mine would show color that well. Duno what that is could just be coral slime as ive seen some of my acros look like that from time to time

I'm with gmoney. Doesn't look like anything too bad to me. Have you tried "sucking" it up with a turkey baster (or blowing it off)? Just curious if it is "attached" to the coral?

Strange that it is on the underside only. Mine slime from time to time as well - just not typically from the underside.

It doesn't look like something you can blow off. It's been there for a few days.

Beautiful coral. My guess is Snail eggs, I've had them on my Coral before and the looked very similar.

Those are mesenterial filaments, completely normal. Mesenterial filaments are used as a feeding and defense mechanism.

No not at all. Just a healthy and reacting Red Planet! Congrats!
(Snail eggs do look a lot like that but they are usually on the glass and you can see development within days)

Correct. Some of my acros bring out these filaments after feeding certain foods. They also can used these filaments to attack closeby corals.
