Open wires on pump

Today I heard the pump making much more noise than usual, unplugged it and made sure nothing was clogged and put it back. It was quiet for several hours after that then the noise came back even worse. Was examining it and realized the wires are exposed right at the base! Is that why and is the pump no longer usable? I’m assuming it’s not because of the exposed wires. I did buy the pump used and had no problems for a few months until today.

Don't see any bare wire, just the outer casing has split so it may be okay (the terminal ends and motor are usually encased in epoxy). In my experience, noise is usually due to worn or dirty parts causing vibration. Have you disassembled the pump to see if the impeller and shaft are in good condition and free of debris?

Yes it is free of debris, I’ve tried pretty much everything but no luck :(

Probably just worn out then... time to buy a new one.

Yes it is free of debris, I’ve tried pretty much everything but no luck :(
Just to double-check. Sometimes what may look normal is not truly normal.

Is the inside of the pump housing, where the impellor sits, free of buildup?
You've taken it apart, but did you inspect the impellor magnet for calcium buildup? Sometimes it can look clean but is evenly covered.
Did you ensure the impellor/magnet assy spins freely on the shaft?
Are there any broken/missing blades on the impellor?

I noticed my return pump had exposed wires like the one in the picture. Best to throw it out. I know this post is old.

Water and electricity does not mix. Ive had this in the past and used Aquarium sealant and gooped it well into and outside the inlet and it re-insulated the area but test first before using it again
