We are slightly new to the reef thing. We inherited this 225g tank from my parents about 3 years ago and decided to turn it into a saltwater aquarium. After about 1.5 years we decided that we wanted to venture into the reef side of a tank so we did. Here's what we had when we first started adding corals.

225 gallon tank, 72"Lx24"Dx30"T
2 overflows and returns on back
15 gallon Wet/Dry sump style filter with Bioballs
72" current compact fluorescent bulbs 4x96w 2 daylight 2 actinic
RedSea 300 gl Prizm Pro Skimmer (hang on)
3 sets of Powerbrite LED's
Hydor Koralia Pump

Here's a picture of the tank before upgrades. I'll upload some other pics of the corals and fish before we upgraded our equipment shortly.

Heres 4 more. As you can tell they were all living just not the happiest coral you had ever seen.

Installed new T5's and biult new hood.

About 3 weeks ago I decided that the lighting we had was just not good enough and with the Christmas on its way it was time for an upgrade. We installed 2 new sets of T5 lights for a total of 16 39w bulbs, we are running 8 actinic combos and 8 10,000ks. We also installed another Koralia pump for more flow and a Marineland in sump 300 gallon protein skimmer. We've also slowly gotten rid of the bio balls to free up more space in sump. Finally we built a custom hood for the tank due to the fact that we could not find a hood to match the bottom base in the size that we wanted. It turned out better than I thought and holds the new lights very well.

New VorTech MP40W

Just ordered two MP40W to replace the two Koralia 4's that I'm currently running. They should be here in a couple of days. Hope they are as good as everyone says, for the price they better be.

I have 2 vortech's in my 225 tank and absolutely love them. Best investment I made last year for my tank. You will be very happy with them.
