Today was my last one in Mexico and therefore the last one with the tank. I hope to have done enough for the reef, nitrates and phosphates were climbing back again, I assume it is because the C-Skim struggles.

Anyway the tank looks fine and except for the brain coral dismissal due to the OSG actions (burying) everything looked neat and colorful. I hope to come back to it in February.

As I changed the layout I thought it is a good opportunity to look back how the tank has evolved, the pictures cover from tank has evolved, the pictures cover from the beginning of this tank in May 2017 up to January 2019. I do enjoy the hobbie. :)

The tank looks beautiful Pancho very nice indeeed and you can certainly see the progression with those shots.

Thank you Shaun, certainly the tank and I have come a long way!

I have learned a lot during this time, definitely it is a good experience to go from my 70L nano to the S-500, I am enjoying the expanded capacity and diversity.

So finally my Blue/Green Chromis did what they do... they attacked each other, I lost the smallest one and another is now swimming with half caudal fin. I guess it is just normal behavior.

First update from the new light settings, the SPS seem to love, better polyp extension, colors are still similar, I guess it will take more time.

The LPS however are not that happy, all Duncans are closed, the Torch achieves maximum extension only during 9 hrs and then closes during 3 hours.

I will give the LPS more time to adapt, I guess one week more before trying to make an adjustment.

I ran AB+ on two primes over my tank and I did see growth. I just switched back to a modified Saxby that I think looks better for me. Def use the acclimation mode on the ab+. Both sps and lps liked it but it took me two months to ramp up to 100% these lights are stronger than people give credit for. If you like a little more blue this setting will make everything glow

Here is what I had for the last 4 months good growth from both but I like the pop a little more on the above setting.

What are the AB+ settings I’m suddenly reading about?

Somebody else was talking about them as well

Hello @Waynerock, thank you for your feedback, I am using the acclimation and planning to reach the peak in 7 weeks but perhaps I pressed too much too early. I will download Saxby’s settings as I know another reefer who is successfully using them and may like a little more blueish tank. For how long you have ran Saxby’s settings?

Hello Shaun, the AB+ are a light settings developed by Ecotech in a study dedicated to coral health, growth and coloration. Of course the AB+ settings are configured in their Radion lights and have become very popular and successful for what I have red. BRS made an spectrum analysis on the AB+ profile to adapt it for the AI Hydras 26 and 52. The light on AB+ is very strong even stronger than the RS Reef Spec so the recommended photoperiod is only 10 hrs.

I ran Saxby for about 6 months. Started right when I got the lights. If you use that drop your green and red Chanel because it’s very high to begin with. I took those to zero and changed my white to 15 peak and 10 on the jumps. Like I said that’s cause I like the blues more than the white not something you have to do but if you are not liking the Saxby stock start changing what you want less of. If I could figure out how I could send you mine to try but for the life of I don’t know how to send someone settings. It took me forever to figure out how to get to Dropbox and onto the app.
