I plug it into a Radio Shack DVM and multiply the reading times 5 just like the probe instructions say to do. Or you can buy the expensive meter that does that exact thing for you. Plus keeps track of the high and low readings or something like that I don't need.
BUT.. after buying one I am not impressed with what it accomplished for me. But, I had to find that out! Although, I did find out my DIY LEDs were blasting my corals to smithereens.
I bought one because the cost of radium bulbs is $80 a piece, and I run 3. Thats $240, if the meter saves me from changing bulbs too soon one time, it pays for itself.
I just got my leds and they recommended starting out at 12" above water. I soon moved them up tp to 24" after noticing my corals were looking a little distressed. They are doing well now. My question is after i acclimate them how low should i lower them?
