I find people greatly over exaggerate everything to do with par, whether it’s the par In their own tanks or what par numbers are required for different species of tank inhabitants. What do you all think

No reason to exaggerate. I think some may say certain coral need more par than they really do but maybe those people were told by another that read it in a post etc. Not really an exaggeration but more misinformation which is common in this day and age. Could be that they had success under a certain par and just assume a certain amount of par is required because it worked for them.
I like to track par in my SPS tank because acros can be totally different color under different light intensity and i like to try and bring those colors out if I can.
I'm getting 550 par on the upper corals in this tank and that's not an exaggeration.😉
