Seachem claims their paraguard will treat basically everything you would treat in a qt (viral, fungal, flukes, bacterial, ect) has anyone tried this as there only Qt treatment. I know about copper for ick and prazipro for Flukes, but I read a lot about people using all of these meds to treat in qt and think if paraguard can treat all of them why do they do it?

There have been several people on here who have tried it and had to abandon it or let their fish die. I've spoken to the rep for them and even he couldn't prove that it worked. He (the rep I spoke to) claims that the oil in Paraguard will "coat the fish" and protect it from everything which is asinine and not a cure but a preventative. So, that's what it is AT BEST..... a preventative that might work some of the time. I hope a few of the people who have tried it chime in... I'm sure there are a few people that had a decent experience with it that will be able to say what they treated for and how it turned out.

You can also stay FAR, FAR away from Parashield by Fritz. The product is garbage.

I wonder if I mixed up paraguard and parashield in my head? I might have. Either way, they are based on the same concept.

I'm going to keep it myself for now, but because I told a Fritz rep on Facebook that it didn't work, the guy basically went off on me, publicly on FB.

I did have a spirited debate with the fritz rep at the store. I walked away feeling like I won the exchange since he couldn't offer proof and wouldn't acknowledge my idea on how to test his results. Meh. No big deal :D

So you think it best to QT using prazipro and cupramine

Personally I like TTM and prazipro. But I keep coppersafe on hand along with metroplex and a few antibiotics on hand to address anything else that might pop up.

Oh! That's Tank Transfer Method. Sorry for not explaining earlier. Here's a link that explains it in detail. --> Tank Transfer Method It only treats ick but when paired with prazipro it will take care of flukes as well. You have to be prepared to switch to copper or Chloroquine Phosphate (CP) if velvet shows up. It's running rampant right now through the suppliers and that filters into the online vendors and LFS so it's a very real threat. If you've never run a QT or don't have the time to do TTM properly, then I always suggest just running with copper since it's affordable and the easiest to do. It will also address ick and velvet at the same time.

Think about it this way: Do you know of any human medication that comes even close to treating all of our diseases? Most fish medications that claim to treat everything usually do no good at all. ;)
