I won these sticks in the last WWC live sale. Polyps never extended but I was cool as long as they were healthy. NOW not so much.

IT looks like STN ( slow tissue narcosis ).. need some more info over your tank and system ..
how old is tank ?
What lights are you running ?
What are your parameters??
Could you get a full tank shot .. showing positions of corals ?

That is not a pest. Parameter instability and having the Hydras up too high would be my only guesses without knowing much more. Double check your method of checking salinity.

Seems to me like it could be a possible parameter issue.

I’d also possible look into making sure that you have enough flow in your tank.

I know when I started my SPS tank I thought I had way too much but to my surprise PE has been awesome thus far.

your tank can handle them.. most likely its a parameter issue, more than likely instability of alk Swinging alk will destroy your tank.. Some corals don't mind... most hate it.

So when talking alk swing, what amount of change constitutes a swing? I am using a DOS with BRS ALK 70ml and Red Sea Calcium 35 ml. My new frags have PE day 1 so I think I bought the others before I was actually ready.

A 1 point swing yo or down can do harm. Especially if the coral is new to the system. Your older pieces can acclimate to fluctuation over time. New pieces my not respond as well. It's important that alk be dosed constantly daily to avoid any swings up or down. Also, if the piece came from a higher nutrient system, the low nutrients can cause stn. Newer pieces can't handle it.

Not at all but when you have larger swings a lot of sps don’t like it at all and will literally melt the skin off before your eyes. Also try to stick with aquaculture corals for a bit until your system is tight and stay away from deep waters For now you will just waste your money. For instance you may have a hard time killing a Walt Disney and it looks amazing lol.

Do you have salinity/heat swings? What is your temperature at? How long have you had the corals? Check when the lights are out and see if the polyps extend
