The ammonia badge could be a "smidgen" over safe so somewhere between .02-.05... but like you said, it's hard to tell for sure with the blue water. It does take a couple of hours for the badge to change colors, so you can double check to see if it looks a little different.

If it's ammonia, the breathing should get better pretty quickly. How does she look now?
I'm trying to upload a video to YouTube but it's not cooperating, she's more active and swimming all over so it's really hard to track her breathing rate but it does look like it may have slowed

Ok, if the water change helped then there probably was a low level of ammonia. I look more for fish behavior than the alert badges anyway, since there is some delay between ammonia being present and the badge actually showing it... rapid breathing is definitely one of the first signs.

How many days have they been in copper now?
Still no copper yet, originally I was planning on treating both tangs together when the antibiotics were finished and since we lost the yellow tang and had the close calls I've just been using the hypo and MB for the flukes

Since your here right now, would you mind looking back a few posts and make sure I'm doing everything correctly?
Looks correct to me, I’d say I notice significant changes in my badges within 12 hours. Also, it’s best to flash a light directly on the front of the alert badge to get the best reading. Otherwise it seems it always looks “a little” green. :)

Good, I’m sorry I just lost track of everything with so many posts on here.

My personal experience with MB and alert badges is that they tend to get “dyed” by it making them less than reliable. We already know the MB affects the beneficial bacteria load so water changes will be good. I also dose Dr Tim’s when using to try to restore (not sure it helps?)

Prime does work in Hypo in the absence of copper for a couple days only (it’s tie is not permanent with the ammonia apparently) so water change too along the path.

@ngoodermuth, I have 5 gallons changed out and I've dosed the MB, prime, and biospira. How long should I wait to see a change in her breathing? I'm pretty sure the alert badge is still reading zero but I'm not the best at differentiating colors on tests and the MB is making it even harder. Maybe there's a trace of ammonia?

Looks like it in between the green and yellow. I checked the water when mine turned green and the amona was really high.

I have the api drops but I'm worried that the test will be way off because of the blue water

I've been adding the prime every day since starting the MB and now I'm adding biospira also every day. I'm thinking I should just start changing water every day instead of every other day

How’s the patient?
She's seems to be doing well and hiding right now, breathing is still a little fast @ngoodermuth. I just picked up some lrs herbivore food from Fish World for her, I'm hoping she likes it!
