So, I was sent an extra peppermint pistol shrimp with my order. They are both tiny! What are the chances of them pairing up vs fighting with each other?

Thank you! I juat dumped them in and didn't see where the first one went, but watched the second for a bit. He's obviously been busy overnight with the size of his sand pile now!I have add 4 pistol shrimps of another species (Alpheus bellulus) into my 80 G tank. End up with at least 1 pair and totally 3 (maybe 4) still living.
If yours are of different sexes - they should probably mate. Lets say - the chance is 50/50
Sincerely Lasse
Did they end up pairing?Thank you! I juat dumped them in and didn't see where the first one went, but watched the second for a bit. He's obviously been busy overnight with the size of his sand pile now!
I don't believe so. They seem to have divided the tank in half and each gets a side, but I also have only ever seen one of them out at a time.Did they end up pairing?Thank you! Aw I see! I’ve always wanted one of those shrimps but I plan on getting another tiger pistol shrimp. What type of goby do you have by chance?I don't believe so. Don't give up hope just yet. The first Yasha goby I picked up I didn't see him at all for quite some time and figured he was a goner. And then out of the blue, low and behold a couple of months later there he was. This was in a 30 gallon tank, so there wasn't a ton of LR real estate for the fish to go unnoticed. It was a Wheeler's Shrimp Goby, but I saw him with one of the shrimp a few days after adding them all and then he's been MIA since so I'm 90% confident he met with an unfortunate end. If I hadn't seen the Pistol Shrimp multiple times without him I'd hold out hope, but at this point it seems unlikely.

The first two are from my initial setup in March. It's been off and on battling dinos so I don't have any good full on pictures that are current. I included a few closeups of my Fire Shrimp from last week when he was feeling fiesty, though. (P.s. there is a lid I just didn't have it on for the first pictures)![]()
