Plate receding any ideas?

I got a fungia plate starting to recede around the edge. Any ideas on what I can do to stop it?

All other plates are fine.

I'm not sure if it plays a role with all Lps but it does in challies for sure... The only time I have saw any receding was if I dropped my po4 to quickly or my mag was low.... Would either of those be the case here???

Otherwise Iodine dips and start feeding the sucker with some frozen food- each of my plates can take down about a cube each if I let them, and afterwards always seem to puff up a lot more. My roomates Orange plate that got over half it's flesh eaten off by peppermint shrimps came back both times (yea, we're slow learners around here) after heavy feedings in a tank without peppermints.

Well all my other plates are fine as well as scolys.

I don't have a mag test kit. Never tested it in my life. LOL!

It is eating right now as I type. I put it in one of those fish acclimater's and it is eating brine right now.

Can I over feed it? I want to feed it several times a day if possible.

it will take as much as you give it prolly.... it might spit some back out thou after awhile a few feeding daily isn't gonna hurt.... maybe cut a cube into 4 pieces and feed it to the plate over the course of the day..... that's what i would do....anyways..

I've yet to kill anything by overfeeding them- plates especially seem able to just suck in massive amounts of food. I'm not kidding when I say I've fed an entire cube of mysis shrimp to my 4" green plate in one sitting. Defrosted the cube, and began placing it on the plate, covered the entire plate and realized I had run out of food. Plate opened it's mouth, pushed all the food from its body into it's mouth, and once all the food was gathered, swallowed it all down.

I've tried overfeeding my My Miami- placed too much of the Reef Caviar onto it for one of the mouths to take down- next day I looked in and the excess food was still being held on to, and after about 12 hours of digesting, it finally sucked in the left over food.

So no, don't think you can kill via overfeeding- but watch out to make sure the water quality doesn't turn foul in a small container

probably ok, but I wouldn't. I just figure a reef animal has never experienced frozen water in the entirety of it's genetic lifespan. Figure it might burn some of the tissue, but I'm probably over analyzing/worrying

When I feed my plate with a turkey baster I just hold it with the tip down for a few secs right above the mouth of my big plate. Most of the food will drop down to the tip of the baster and then I just push it out slow so it gets a HUGE mouthful. I wouldn't take the chance of a frozen cube.

I think you can kill a coral with overfeeding. If you feed a really large chunk to a small mouth but do not have enough flow for the mouth to be able to spit out the food. I have seen polyps get infections from this food they cannot spit up. When I started target feeding smaller foods I didn't have this issue with polyps here and there getting infected.

Make sure the plate is not getting too much flow on that edge. My fungias started looking bad when my nitrates and phosphates were higher.

I wouldn't stick a frozen anything on it. I thaw out my food and make sure everything is temp adjusted. Then the ol turkey baster to your corals mouth. Make sure you don't have any uneaten food resting near the decay for extended periods.
