I got my first platygyra yesterday. Your coral growth looks good. I tried feeding mysis shrimp today, but it did not eat. They were just stuck to its tentacles.

Their mouth is entirely too small for mysis or even brine shrimp.

Yep - they need extremely small particles to fit in their tiny little mouths. I make a sort of thick broth of either reef chili or reef roids, and drizzle that over the middle of the individual colonies. Sticks to their mucus layer and they reel it in. I find that when I feed once per week like this, they grow quite a bit quicker. The frag in my profile pic was 1x0.5" when I got it and it's now bigger than 3x3" (quite a bit bigger considering it's hemispherical) and growing quickly.

I have one that has encrusted on my back glass under halides.
Its about 6" from the surface.

I am not sure, but I suspect a lot of what is sold as platygyra may be other genera like Oulophyllia or species of Favia. Look at how high the ridges separating the corallites are, for example, on the 'platy' in my profile photo. One of those garbage-can taxa where everything that looks like a maze is thrown. Anyhow - got pics?

the five corals after that nano Scolly are watermelon , forgot the green pointy one, mt dew , cool blue and the one behind it with The strsight line cool blue color I’m not sure if it’s a platy - it was An extra a friend sent to me and I never asked him what it was . The bright green watermelon and cool blue somehow found each other and attached to each other over nite last night .

Saw someone gave me a thumbs-up on an old post. Thought I’d update for those interested. Here’s the same rock + 1 more year of growth

Do you know how much par yours are getting? I have a big square one probably 4 inches accross that was a gift. I've had it a year or longer and it has never done well. It is finally getting fleshy but not much color. It is concave and has its own little eco system on its bottom side of the skeleton but nothing think could bother it through the skeleton.

I don’t know the PAR, sorry. I could guess but that might lead you in the wrong direction. I have 3 platygyra and the one that is that color is super slow growing compare to the other 2
