Ah, yes! The best investment I had made for my Nikon was a Macro Lense for close ups.

It seems like your aperture and iso are set properly (which I why I asked). It does seem like a limitation of the lense. Either way some of those photos looked great! It might not be what you had envisioned, but still good nonetheless!

Never done photo with a camera like this but I am learning. Any pointer you have would be greatly appreciated

For pics, if you have LEDs turn your lights up to 100%...just don't forget to turn them back down. To be able to use a low iso i highly recommend a tripod, remote shutter release, and turn off pumps while shooting. It will help you tremendously to learn to use the metering on your camera to set proper exposure. I also like to shoot a half step below proper exposure levels to make sure i dont blow any highlights out. You can adjust for it in post processing. Always shoot in RAW format.

Whew! That was a huge dump of info for ya lol! Good luck and have fun. DSLRs are awesome

A few of my shots. I obviously like blastos

Thank you!
You've got some killer pieces! I'd like to spend a few hours shooting your tank. A macro lens with at least 100mm helps too. I shoot with a 100mm macro but my camera has a crop sensor so the lens acts like a 150mm

your camera and lens is fine.
use a tripod and use the timer function or remote from your phone canon app to take the picture.
increase the f stop to focus everything, your depth of field is too shallow.
