Hello,

I received my first ICP test results from Fauna Marin and I'd like you to comment and give me recommandations, please. My tank 9 months old (started with very mature liverock) and LPS dominated. Overall, I find the ICP test results pretty good, but there seems to be some lacking trace elements according to their recommanded values.

Here are some the parameters of my tank as measured by myself :

Alk : 10.0 dkh (salifert)
Ca : 455 (salifert)
Mg : around 1400 (Aquaforest)
NO3 : 15-20 (Hanna)
PO4 : 0.06-0.08 (Hanna)

Here are some other informations :

- 75 gal total volume (60 dt, 15 sump)
- I do ≈25% water changes monthly.
- I am using a mix of red sea blue bucket / red sea coral pro salt to get around 10.0 dkh
- I dose alk and Ca daily according to Randy's 2 parts receipe, and I dose Mg (mix of chloride and sulfate) every 2-3 weeks.
- I dose 2 mL of tropic marin A- and K+ elements daily.
- I dose Bright well NeoPhos daily because my phosphates were almost bottoming out 2 months ago.
- I use approx. 1 cup of pelleted GAC that is sitting in one of my filter socks and I replace it every 6-8 weeks.
- I grow cheato in my sump (I remove the size of a softball almost weekly).
- Corals are looking very healthy and I see good growth for Euphyllias, candy canes, and duncans, and also for the 3 sps corals I have.
- There is some cyano growth that is becoming annoying since I'd say around 1 month.

Here are the results and also a short video of my tank. YouTube link also provided.

Thank you very much in advance for your insights !

Sam

In my opinion the tank looks good so I would not change anything…

If you are concerned with low level of some of the trace elements you can increase TM A and K to 3mm and see if things change.

I use 2 tablespoons of GAC on 65 gal systems and change 1/2 every 2 weeks. Less GAC may maintain the trace elements levels better.

Randy has a suggested trace elements list.
Only thing id consider is iron, likely your chaeto is sucking it up.

Thank you. I already dose TM A- and K+ elements daily (2 mL each). I dosed 3 mL today and will do the same for the next few weeks.

Ok, that’s probably adequate. :)
