So I filled up my tank and the tank is level but the water level is different on each side. The left is a little lower than the right. I think it’s because the return is only shooting the right side for some reason. The right line is getting all the flow. Is it because it is a lot longer away or what.

Could it have something to do with the left drain being twisted?

I would measure from the bottom of the top trim to the top of the stand and just make sure it’s equal on both sides to rule out the trim being what’s throwing the level off.

If it is not, then I’d try another level just to be sure. It certainly looks unlevel from the pics.

This is the right and left side so is it really that bad. Could that much unlevelness cause a .5” difference?
I figured out it has nothing to do with the drains because the tank is unlevel the water level can’t reach above the slits of the overflow on the left.

Does your level span the entire tank? What is the length of your level and what is the length of your tank? If the level is shorter than your tank, and your level is showing it being out of level 1/2”, then your tank is out of level by more than an 1/2”.

The length of the level is 3’ and the tank is 6’

You did not mention the size of your tank. Would not be shimming the tank. Sorry to say but 1x wood not the greatest 10 pounds a gallon. Anyway shim the stand up after shutting water off probably have to drain tank obviously yours looks to be 90? gallons. After shimming just hide it with trim as a skirt. Just my opinion

If you’re 3’ level is showing 1/2” out of level on your 6’ tank, that means you’re tank is 1” out of level.

I would drain it, and use composite shims. LOTS of composite shims. Meaning, I would shim it up level on the end that is low. Once level, I would make sure you have a shim every 3” to distribute the weight.

As others have said, you’ll want to make sure it’s sitting on a SOLID floor.

I thought you would want to shim the high side because the water would fall as you raise the side thats taller?

You will need to shim up the side that is lower.

-set your level on your tank.
-raise the level on one end only, until the bubble is between the 2 lines.
-once the bubble is between the lines, there will be a gap between your tank and your level on either the left side or right side of the level
-if the gap is on the left, the left side needs raised (shimmed)
-if the gap is on the right, the right side of the tank needs raised (shimmed)
- you will want to do this same procedure going from front to back of the tank
-once the tank is level in ALL directions, place shims every 3 inches under your stand where there are gaps. This is key in order to keep your tank and stand from failing due to sagging in the middle.

Hope this helps.

I appreciate it. Would you place these shims all connected under or separate them?
