As much as people trash it. My api test give same results as my rs for no3/phos/cal/alk/mg/ph and also consistant with apex ph/cal/mg/alk

Took a break for a while but recently got back into it.

All the Hanna testers you can buy I have
I still use most of them daily right now cause my tank is newer and I have a few things I shouldn’t have bought so try to catch any changes quickly.

About 2 months ago I bought a exact iDip I’ve heard some bad things about them on here but wanted to see for myself.

The iDip works great if you follow the instructions and on the tests it says to fill the cup full I use 4ml everytime.
I compare this with the Hanna testers daily and it’s always been within range with them.
The hopes with this is to be able to use the iDip all the time as you don’t have all the liquid reagents and I thought the iDip test tablets would last longer and were cheaper. Turns out iDip is more expensive but the refill kits come with 100 test tablets.

Daily test with iDip and Hanna
Alk
Cal
Phos
No3
Ph

Test done weekly Hanna and iDip
Mag:( I don’t trust the iDip reading for this one it calculates it in some gibberish form then you have to go online to calculate it in ppm and the numbers don’t seem to add up IMO. )

No2 .
Ammonia .
I know I don’t really need to check these but I do just to see sometimes.

Salinity
Brs refracto
Red Sea refracto

Hanna ULR phosphate
Hanna HR Nitrate
RedSea Ca, Mg, Alk
Tropic Marin hydrometer Salinity

Salifert:
Alk
Cal
Mag

Hanna:
Nitrate High Range
Phosphate ULR

Apex Probes:
pH
Temp

Icecap:
Digital Salinity Checker

Curious, I have a Hanna Alk test kit but switched to Salifert years ago, to the ones who have tried both, which did you end up with and why? Been thinking about trying it out again since my Salifert is almost running out

API for PH/Ammonia/Nitrate. Perfectly fine experience with this for cycling my tank.

RedSea for Alk/Cal/Mag. I've only really tested to Alk so far to see what dosing schedule I need to keep up with since Cal/Mag has been consistent.

Salifert for Phosphate. I don't have a good experience with this product in that I did as instructed and didn't get the results that matched the LFS spin test. The test will read 0 when it's .4 with the spin test. Makes me not trust this manufacturer.

Hanna checker for Alk , Phos , Nitrate and Salifert for calcium and magnesium. Ink bird for temp and tropic Marin hydrometer for salinity.

Iodine

Auto Testers
Masterjunktronic:
No3 - API
Po4 - Red Sea
Iodine - Red Sea
FE - Some German brand

Trident-
ABC - bought the year supply

Hanna Temp checker
For Salinty - The kitchen sink, but Tripic Marina hydrometer has been my goto lately.
Mq510, and often

ICP monthly - been doing Oceamo for a couple years. I just did the Oragano, but since I switched to Captiv8, I’m going to try a different ICP now.

And this red piece of tape that lets me know the water level in my sump is good.

Hannah for p04, n03 and alk. and salifert for calcium and mag. those keep my trident calibrated.
I also use a old plastic hydrometer for my salinity.. I have a tropic Marin glass one but don’t see a use for it lol..
Do you know you’re supposed to use that tropic Marin hydrometer in a piece of PVC pipe instead of just placing it in your tank. You buy a piece of pipe just a little larger than the hydrometer and you cap one end you fill it with water so that when you place the hydrometer, it doesn’t overflow, but then you’re able to see the facility on the hydrometer. It won’t be bouncing around in your tank or your water container.

Aqua guard 6 in one strips- General idea of tank water quality
Salifert Calcium, Magnesium and Nitrate
Sera KH

Reef factory khk alk
Reef factory smart tester phosphates
Reef factory ph meter
Reef factory salinity guardian

Cross checked with
Hanna alk
Hanna phosphate ulr
Hanna nitrate hr
Hanna salinity
Hanna ph
Salifert cal
Salifert mag

I test 3 type of tests. The first time I use Red Sea.
Cal
Mag
Alk
Phos (being replaced by Hanna Phosphorus ULR) all the greens look the same from .08-.2
Iodine
The Nitrate is ………. Not a good test.

2nd with Salifert.
Cal
Mag
Alk
Ph
Nitrate is total confusion. 😳 So I’m done with this test.

NYOS I test 3rd.
Phos
Nitrate

When I check PH (not often)
API
Salifert
Marine Labs

I find Rea Sea reads High consistently, Salifert is consistent but reads lower. I average those 2 just to make sure one versus the other isn’t way off. I use Nyos for Phos and Nitrate because all the other test kits color charts are whacked!
