Please help. I have a new acclimated fish, less than 24 hours has been breathing very heavy. He went through a 35 minute methlyn blue bath and then 2 hour rally bath. He has been breathing fast since I got him. Last night he was more at the surface of the tank but today he is hanging more at the bottom.

I have not treated the QT with any medications as he was already stressed out enough. I thought ammonia poisoning initially, it could have been from the package he came in prior to acclimation.

His coloring is good and no visible signs of parasites.

Any advice or words of wisdom?

much appreciated!

Can’t open video.
How did you acclimate it and for how long?
What did you do with the bag water?
How did the fish look prior to purchase?
Did you equalize salinity in bag water with that in the tank (1.024-1.025)

Do you have oxygen/air stone pumping into the QT?. Sorry if it’s in the picture my iPhone can’t pull it up. Did you add any bio media from your display?
Yes heavily aerated. I also added media, tims one and only and plan on large daily water changes. Here is the video again.

Tossed the water in the bag after I dripped acclimated for 45 minutes. He was shipped to me.

I actually didn't check the salinity, so not sure to be honest.

He didn't look good upon arrival so I dripped acclimated more quickly as I feared ammonia poisoning.

That long drip acclimation may have done him more harm then good.

Could be ammonia burns on the gill tissue now which would explain the heavy breathing.

Acclimation may be issue in part
You want to float bag for at least 20-30 minutes and then start your drip
Thereafter, after about about an hour check salinity against the tank salinity. If low continue addition of tank water to bucket. As you add tank water, ammonia will start to reduce
What did you do with bag water?
May be osmotic shock from sudden changes
Add air if you haven’t already and lights off for a little bit
