Oh boy you are starting a trend now everyone wants the " very difficult to find and ridiculously thick walled silicon tubing" so yeah I will need it as well. Thanks

I assume you don't need any fittings on the inlet, just on the outlet. For that i'd just use 50ml silicone that will slip fit onto your imperial pipe:) secure it with a stainless steel jubilee clip.

@PedroYoung

I need a foot too (maybe even a bit less) of the ridiculously hard-to-find 1.5" ID variety :), willing to sell and ship? LMK please.

Thanks!
Yes, I still have and can sell and ship. FYI I just replaced the original SS clips from Abyzz with plastic ones from BRS. The SS clips started rusting, found after Triton test showed high iron. Not sure that's what it was, but the plastic ones seem to be working just fine. I'll have to go back and look what I paid for the tubing. Will PM you.

PM me and I'll send the money later on in the evening via PP. Thanks in advance.

Rev, I would use Silicone tube between the pump and the rigid PVC. This is normally the way it's done in Europe. You can plumb direct if you want. Usually the adaptors are in the box (at least mine did). If not contact Jeff at Abyzz America.

I've always hard plumbed my return pumps because I am afraid the silicone tubing is going to fail or pop off? Am I just being paranoid, or is that a valid concern?

Got the pump plumbed into my plumbing that was already there. I will be taking time in the next few weeks to redo the plumbing and go with bigger PVC.

You live and hopefully you learn!

@revhtree any chance you have pictures?

I’ve been researching for hours, but I still can’t quite find the information I need. I’m running a Red Sea Reefer S-1000, which includes a Y fitting with several barbed options if using a single return pump. I’ve always hard plumbed my return pumps, so I’m a little hesitant to switch to soft plumbing for this setup, even though it seems like Abyzz actually recommends silicone tubing.

To be honest, I’m worried about the silicone tubing failing or popping off over time. If I do go the silicone-tubing route, it looks like I’d need the 40 mm × 5 mm tubing from Abyzz, but I haven’t been able to find anywhere in the U.S. that carries it.

If I use silicone tubing, do I simply slide it directly onto the Abyzz pump outlet, or should I add a union and a barbed fitting between the pump and tubing? And if I decide to stick with hard plumbing, does anyone happen to know what fitting sizes would be needed to connect directly to the Red Sea Y fitting?

One of the main purposes of the silicone tubing is to limit vibration transfer.

I used adaptor from A200 to 1.5", 1.5" union, 1.5" barb, 1.5" silicone tubing

Originally used these marine grade SS clamps from Abyzz, but after a couple years they showed some rust so I swapped out with standard grab type clamps.

My sump is in the basement so tons of head pressure and never any issue with clamps

It was a real ordeal to get that tubing, ordered from Abyzz Germany about 6 years ago. I still have a couple feet left.

No need to stress about ordering the tubing from Germany.

I got it from eBay - worked perfectly.

Picked up an Abyzz 200 pump and the outlet size is as follows according to the spec sheet:

Inlet/outlet connections: 50mm/40mm

Now I assume that is the measurements for the outside and inside of the outlet. So if I plumb from the outside it puts the size at slight less that 2" and the inside at slightly more that 1.5".

I'm not sure what to do here. Thoughts?

From what I found the inlet is 2 inch ID and the pipe is meant to slip over it so I can only assume you use a coupling. The out let is 1.6 ID and the pipe is supposed to slide into it 1 and 5/8 od . I don't have any 1 inch pvc to verify,

My 1.5" pvc is way to small for the smallest sleeve
BTW you can see a little "ridge" around the outside but on the inside there is nothing to stop the plumbing from going all the way down next to the impeller and might even touch. A standard 1.5" piece of PVC I had is not real tight when I dry fit it. I would rather go on the outside.
Strange someone said that the pipe dimensions have been changed I will call a dedicated plumbing outfit and check right now be back

I had to go to coralvu and order way way over priced metric to standard adapters, which reduce flow. They should make a replacement cover that is standard and fixes this issue. Very silly. BTW, DO NOT USE the clear replacement cover they offer as an upgrade. The tolerance for the reducers is different than the black. Ask me how I know… A400 @100% on a closed loop - can be unforgiving…
