Possible Xenia Toxin?

Two weeks ago, right after a small water change in my biocube, I noticed an acro loosing color. It started bleaching the next day, and now 2 weeks later, it's pretty much totally bleached. I've also notice reduced polyp extension of other corals. I haven't changed anything, but I did clean a bunch a Xenia during that water change. Has anyone heard of Xenia releasing some sort of toxin when being cut out. Thanks for the help!

Yes, they release toxins when cut. You need to do a big water change AFTER pruning them and then more as the wounds close. In a small tank like that, even weak toxins like that can be deadly.

All corals release defense compounds when injured. Normally it is not an issue but in nano tanks or if a large amount is disturbed then it overwhelms the system.
