Hi guys,
I’m planning to build a 180 cm × 60 cm × 60 cm reef tank. I currently only have a nano tank I live in a hot and humid climate year-round (Malaysia) and I’ve heard people mention that reef tanks can sometimes make the floor feel sticky, especially around the tank area. Is this stickiness mainly due to climate and humidity, or is it more related to poor tank design / maintenance?
I also have polished marble flooring and would like to know if there’s any long-term risk of damage to the marble from running a reef tank and if so how to prevent it.
Would appreciate insights from anyone running large reef tanks in tropical climates or with stone flooring. Thanks in advance!

I don't have stone floors but I get no moisture at all around any of my tanks unless I'm messy. The air has a lot of humidity that a dehumidifier takes care of. I would probably be tempted to have a mat to put down on marble. I imagine a little water could make it slippery?

I have never had a stickiness issue around my tanks. Just minimize salt creep and keep things clean. 🙂

Marble is very porous, polished is less but still has the potential to absorb and discolor. You can do a natural stone sealant (something like 511 Impregnator as it doesn't change the sheen or finish) in the immediate area around the tank and underneath it including the grout line.
