Potential parasite or worms in New clownfish?

Hey I'm here to saltwater tanks. I just got clownfish on Sunday. My clownfish has a white string of poop hanging from it as seen in the video. It still tried to eat and seems to sometimes successfully do it with crushed flakes and pellets but often just spits it out. I only really have api general cure available near me and am thinking of using the method in the screenshot with frozen food. Do you think this is parasites or worms? Should this method work?

Feed foods such as TDO pellets, flakes, plankton, LRS fish frenzy and back off on mysis and you will see change in feces color and consistency

I'm currently feeding omega one marine pellets and ocean nutrition prime reef flakes. I'm not sure what they feed it in store but the other clownfish from the same store different tank has regular poop. Would the residuals last awhile for the clownfish if the store fed them that?

Yes as much as 10 days. What it is with those foods is excess mucus in the stomach lining causing this appearance.

Loss of appetite and weight (getting thin)

Just as a side note: I looked up that post you references. It is really outdated. I edited it to include newer information about medicated foods.

You can dose General Cure in the water, as long as the tank doesn't have any invertebrates in it.

I have not tried yet but might soon. It hasn't had it hanging off of it since about mid day yesterday so I might have just been panicking, but it's definitely not eating as easy as the other one so might try a different food

Sorry for replying so much, but I read through it and I specifically should not oral dose general cure and just put it in the water instead? Should this handle the issue or will I likely need to order prazi or Metro to food dose?

Yes - you can dose general cure in the water, BUT the tank cannot have any invertebrates in it if you do that - just fish, no corals, no clean up crew, etc.

If you want to try medicated foods, you can use the post I made, but you'll need just metronidazole (Metroplex).

Just be aware - there are common issues with clownfish showing similar symptoms that are caused by diseases that we have no treatment for: coccidia and viral diseases.
